Hi, I have just installed the update "Java for OS X 2012-006 and Java for Mac OS X 10.6 Update 11" and most of my Java applications do not work. Is there anything I can do to bring them back to live. Thanks.

I'm still running 1.6.0_35 and all is well. You are left without Java Preferences, right?

At this point you probably will have to install Oracle. Read about on their site.

Would you classify these applications as Java Applets? We were able to revert our JavaAppletPlugin.plugin to a previous version to enable Java 1.6.0_37 support.

thanks for your help. I have installed Java 7 from Oracle but the applications do not work. It appears that it is a problem with the user interface. For instance, in one of the applications, the following message apears in Terminal: "Could not initialize GUI(java.lang.reflect.InvocationTargetException@java.awt.EventQueue.invokeAndWa it(EventQueue.java:1242))" Could it be that the application itself works with Java 7 nut the GUI does not? Do I need to install also Java 1.6? I did not see the option in Java from Oracle web page.

Are you using Java on a webite, do you link to through a web browser, or is it a free standing application?
The applications I use are standing applications. The Java I downloaded is the one in the link (jre-7u9-macosx-x64).
The JRE is correct, if you use the plug-in and apps don't work Apple has posted an article on reverting to Java 6.
I followed the steps indicated in the posted link but the applications do not work.
In another application I get the followinf messages:
