Well, their policy does say constructive criticism is allowed (if my statement can be argued as constructive, I think so).

Anyway..... I do have an issue in that I do not get that activity when downloading email, only when I send (sometimes - I think).

As I receive more than send it is a big annoyance. I have no idea if I am downloading a 10kb email or a 10mb email. I have no idea how long to wait, is there an issue or is there a big email? Is there no email even? I mean I get absolutely no indication any email is being downloaded. When I open the main Activity window from the Window menu I can then see what's going on. Others have this same issue from other forums which is why I thought it is meant to work like this, and therefore a bit of a waste of space (when downloading).

I just added a gmail account with 5gb of data. I had NO idea where it's at. I can see the headers of All Mail but have no idea what it's still downloading. Until I open the main activity window. Then I can see the messages being downloaded.

OK, I'm going to turn this whole thing on its head. Yes, Mail Activity is a lot of empty space. Unless multiple threads are going, and yes, it seems redundant with the Activity window.

Until you consider all viewing modes.

If you are using Full Screen mode, you cannot (or at least I couldn't) bring up the Activity window, which is a holdover from pre-Full Screen days. In that scenario, Mail Activity is the only visible place to see mail network traffic.

And because Mail Activity works in both modes while Activity does not, if you draw this out to its logical conclusion it is not the Mail Activity window that is redundant, it is the more limited Activity window that is more open to being removed from the software.

I think the Activity window IS necessary until Mail Activity shows more activity. If Mail Activity did start showing the activity then the pop up Activity window is not so important. Saying that, it does show more activity than would be needed such as caching, so it's good to have somewhere to view ALL activity (although I'll probably won't use).
