Ok,

I managed to make it accept folders not from iPhoto, dont ask how ! loll
So i created the "library" with the folders, and once i opened i photo with tha library, i dragged the original folder on to the "photothèque" and the pictures got back in.

Now.. it was copied. So i went to put all the original folders into either iPhoto library or at least the "imige" folder... well, ican't put it back there... it creates aliases instead...

What do i do with the original folders now ?

Thank you

It's kind of done i guess...
There are still answers i'd appreciate to have..

Fro the par of my library that was not real photos, but captures.. do i keep a copy of them ? (this is the part where i expressed that it was impossible to move, it would just make create alias

Also tonight, for the locking thing, it's the other way around..
iPB one works well. But the secured forder does not.
Once i've ejected the folder, quit iPhoto, relock the folder from iPB, i do have to unlock the iPB one to get to the iPhoto with it... But never at anytime, do i have to unlock the seecured folder itself...

???

Any clue ?
I am still on it...

But would you happen to know how come my secured folder does not lock ?

You have to know something first... y was never able to have iPB accept that one, even if it was empty..
So I put it, in another folder first... and then put my personnal stuff in the secured folder, wich was inside another folder, wich was accepted by iPB... ouff!

loll

OK, I'm not sure why you've decided to delete/restore/... the iPhoto Buddy .plist. You'll be using the application anyway. Assuming you've removed the iPB .plist file, a new one will be created next time you launch iPB.

"1-iPhoto plist is not there (wasn't it supposed to be one ?)"

Don't bother about your iPhoto .plist! It should be located at
/Users/you_name/Library/Preferences/com.apple.iPhoto.plist

Sorry, I'm lost!!!
As soon as you're using an encrypted disk image, you do not have to use iPB's rather basic "locking" feature.

My/Lori's/Toad's plan - as outlined before - was to

1. open iPhoto (with all your pictures in your library=photothèque) and copy your confidential photos to a new, temporary folder i.e. on your desktop. Once copied, remove those pictures from iPhoto. Quit iPhoto.

2. Use Disk Utility to create an encrypted disk image. Mount(=open) the image.

3. Open iPhoto while holding down the option (=alt) key. From the pop-up window, select "create library" to create a new, confidential iPhoto library including its corresponding iPhoto Library folder and all subfolders. Save it inside your encrypted disk image.

3. Import your confidential pictures from the temporary folder into your new iPhoto library.

4. Add your old library folder as well as the protected one to the list in iPhoto Buddy. Use iPhoto Buddy to switch between your libraries.

5. Eject=unmount your encrypted disk image whenever you don't need it.

If you still have your original iPhoto library folder, I'd suggest you start over again and follow our fairly detailed instructions above, eh? 🙂

ouff... all right..

I new before how to, and i had, open a secured (encrypted) folder.
Niel told me many days ago.
My pictures where in it.

I opend that topic, cause i thought it was to bad to have my library in i photo, but have to open window and serch to have the encrypted one when i needed it. I was looking for a way, to keep it lock, as well as with the other pictures.
maybe i did not read right, but i though toad told me to drag the empty encripted folder in to the iPB library and then, when it is accepted, to put back my photos in it.
Thing is, it would not accept it, so that's why i draged a finder folder instead, an then, put the encrypted one in that folder...

so if you say there is a way to have the encrypted folde accepted by iPB, and you say that the way to do it is explained very clearly in the thread, then i wont abuse more of your time, and read it again untill i get it.

You've been incredibly patient, understanding, suprisingly clear on everything you explaind to me, wich you have no idea how i very much appreciate it, but if i dont get that one, there is only so much you can do...

Before you got into the subject, i had trown the application in the trash !
I thank you Scout for your time, and the energy you put into helping, explaining, teaching, so i understand better what that thing (and even more!)was all about, and find the patience to start it all over again;
You truly are an inspiration...

I thank you Lory for your application idea, and appoligize for douting you... now that it works, (and i take the blame on probably not have it installed proprely the first time), I'm very happy to be able to use it;

Gratefully,

Jacinthe
