I'm pretty sure that iPhoto is free to download and with that app it's simple to delete entire folders of photos. If you choose the Camera Roll folder, just press 'select all' and afterward press 'delete photos'.

I was having problems with not being able to delete a lot of photos off my iPad too and then I looked into iPhoto and it works perfectly for deleting a lot of photos.

Cheers

None of the information provided here was helpful for me. The best way I found to simultaneously import and delete was using the application 'image capture', which is installed in every mac. Once you open this app, click on the tiny icon that is located in the bottom left corner and looks kind of like a house. There you will find the option to 'delete after importing'. Clicking this will enable to import the photos from the IPAD and at the same time delete them from the IPAD. I actually found this information in the following http://ipadinsight.com/ipad-tips-tricks/the-fastest-way-to-remove-all-the-photos -from-the-ipad-camera-roll/

I just accidentally tripped on a very effective way to delete lots of photos at once without connecting to a laptop, apps, etc...I'm running 7.1.1 on an iPad(?) don't know the generation, but I got it July of 2013. 32gb. I have 4200 photos on it now and I'm always having this issue too. Anyway, when you open your photo icon the default page is "Moments". So inside Moments you have each Moment(by geography or date/day). If you tap "Select" in the upper right corner one time you have the option to individually select photos then delete, share, etc. So go ahead and tap Select once, then you'll notice that each Moment heading has another Select option. Hold down this new Select for a pause and release, you'll see that all the photos in that Moment are selected. You can go ahead to each Select option per "Moment" and hold select again for a pause to select additional photos without losing the other selected photos you have. Then go ahead and delete those pesky photos!!!!! Or was it accidental?? The world may never know....

OK! so after trying everything I could find to solve my same problem... I finally found one that worked!!

http://www.ipodrepublic.com/iphone/fixing-issue-other-files-iphone-memory/2010/0 3/31/

This person mentions a software called DiskAid... and that it what I had to use!!

You open up the software and then click the folder "file system" then "camera roll".... on mine it popped up with a bunch of random files, I deleted them all... since I had them

already saved... I have no idea where or how these files were there... it was like they were hidden, anyways that freed up most of my space!!

Also if you noticed when you connected to itunes that it shows the data as other.... it should go down after you delete those files...

if its still large it might be voicemails as well... I'm going to try to delete some and see if that helps.

God Bless and good luck!!

I was looking for an answer better than my method, but all those answers considerably worse.

So here is the IMO best way:

- Connect iPad to computer

- Open the "Image Capture" app (it's an Apple app, pre-installed on OS X)

- In Image capture, select iPad, select all images, hit delete

- Edit: On the iPad, go to albums, recently deleted, go inside that and select delete all.

This will delete all pictures from the iPad. Make sure you have them backed up first and so on.
