my Software Update is hanging, how do I proceed?

My Software Update is hanging. How do I proceed?

I'm using Software Update to install a driver for my HP Deskjet 3054 J610 printer. When I tried to install the printer driver manually, it also hung up.

Thanks for your help in advance!

iMac, Mac OS X (10.6.8), Installing 2 items, one is an HP Up

Cancel the update, and/or reboot the machine by pressing the power button down hard.

See if it boots up, then run Software Upate again, or run the Combo Update here
