Incredibly poor iPhone 5 battery life whenever 3G is activated, why?

I bought a new iPhone 5 and ever since I got it when I use 3G (or cellular data at all for that matter) the battery life is incredibly bad. Yesterday my phone only lasted for about 4 hours. I used up 20% of battery on a 15 minute bus ride. The battery % display is more like a countdown timer. The battery life isn't great even with cellular data disabled (with or without WiFi) but it is absolutely attrocious with any kind of cellular data. I feel like the battery life on my heavily used iPhone 4 was better all around but this new phone is pretty much whenever cellular data is activated. With my iPhone 4 I could always get through at least 1 day without recharging, with the iPhone 5 I never can. With cellular data activated I'll have to recharge more than once a day.

What's going on here? Can anyone help?

My final conclusion is that it is 90% due to cellular data, turn it off and that corrects most of it, however I think there are also some background process issues. The first run through with no cellular data I got OK battery life but not super and I think some of what was classified as "usage" should have been "standby". Today I'm great, as advertised battery life but it's been mostly standby. When I started web browsing and things like that I feel it still drops a little on the fast side but not nearly as bad.

So there most certainly is a huge gaping bug with cellular data and then possibly some loose canon processes that get stuck running in the background. Again though, the weird thing is I can't find excessive data or CPU usage when running programs to monitor it.

Now i'm @ 77% 2 hours 24 minutes usage, 17 hours, 5 minutes standby.

Yesterday I got around 20 hours standby and 9 hours usage but I didn't actually use it 9 hours.

Well my good fortune ended today. Battery drain is back even WITHOUT data. I lost 10% on the bus this morning just reading stuff that was already downloaded - no data use at all not even WiFi. Lost 5% while I was sleeping for 6 hours. I'm now down to 81% and it's still morning. All I did was read stuff offline and have a 5 minute phone call.

FYI there is _NO_ fix for this. This is either a hardware problem with select phones or some very serious bug deeply ingrained in the iOS 6.0 & 6.0.1 operating system. I have used my phone on various 3G networks in six different countries now. I exchanged the phone once and I have done a DFU restore and tried the phone wiht no apps and iCloud disabled. The horendous battery drain is the same every time always no matter what if cellular data is turned on. Turrn cellular data off and battery life is fine. Apple has really screwed their customers on this one.
