Downloaded quicktime movie from DIV3 .avi to .mov?

What plug-in or converter do I need to decompress a downloaded movie in a DIV3 .avi format to a .mov so I can play it on Quicktime 7 Pro? And how do I find one for free?

Please, please, please, someone have an answer because I can't find one online

According to GUBA ( http://www.guba.com/formatguide.sgba), AVI/Div3 requires a DivX codec. Believe the latest version player capabilities are free but converter capabilities are timed for limited use. Older QT components (DivX v5.1.1 and v5.2.1) are probably still available free if you Google them.

You need the DivX codec to decompress the older DIV3 format.

Alternatively, you can try and drag and drop that video into iSquint and convert the DIV3 format into something QT Pro will read, save and convert:
