MyMac8MyPC, I asked that you not answer a question because you appear to be the self appointed SME, and your actions are childish. No reason to listen to you any longer.

Also, I am a man not a women just FYI.

So, again, please exclude me from further connections to this technical Q&A. I see no further value is seeking one persons opinion....from MyMac8MyPC. I have other ways to get information and technical support from mature technical people.

So this is now your personal private forum?

Let me get this straight…. You come into this technical forum directing baseless accusations at Apple. Others and myself explain in a factual and detailed manner why they were baseless. You didn't like that, and started your name calling campaign, and posting condescending remarks at me, and anyone else who pointed out that you were whining.

You then started to throw false allegations my way by saying that “I must” work for Apple, again being baseless of course. You then convinced yourself that you were posting on 'a blog' and continued to throw insults at me (and anyone else who called you out on your continuous whining rant).

Several of your remarks were so immature that they were removed by the forum moderator. You whined some more. I told you that if you make an accusation toward Apple, you better be able to back it up with facts, because no one here wants to hear your FUD. You then proceeded to ridicule me with more condescending sarcastic remarks. And last but not least, you proceed to insult the people who come to this forum to help others.

And you have the audacity to accuse others of being “childish”?

LOL Wow… 😁

You couldn't have left us with a better example of a immature statement if you tried.

It was never called the iPAD 3 its just the iPAD. Check it out....iPAD 3 is a misnormer. Nor is the new one called an iPAD 4....its just iPAD with Retinal Display.

I think what Iamawesome997 was talking about was the thread title. however you are right about the iPads naming structure. Apple didn't learn when they added a confusing name to the iPad 3, and now they are doing it again with the iPad 4 by calling it "iPAD with Retina Display" (which also discribes the iPad 3).

Most of what I've seen indicates that the '3' stands for 'third generation iPad' in news articles, technical threads, etc. It is just a way of specifing, when generic a 'iPad' won't do, which generation of the 'iPad' is being referenced. It is similar to calling the iMac11,3 the mid-2010 iMac. We are already seeing '4' pop up as a way of specifying the 4th generation iPad. It seems far more efficient than saying the iPad with Retina Display and the A6 CPU. Of course, one could always refer to the iPad using the actual hardware identifier, but that is rather inefficent as most wouldn't know what you were talking about.

I've seen the first generation of the iPad with Retina Display referred to as 'iPad 3', iPad (3), and "iPAD '3'". I use the iPad 'x' nomenclature myself. Short and to the point--no matter what Apple marketing calls it.

Anyone who thinks that the '3' or '4' is part of the name Apple gave the unit hasn't been paying too close attention to the real world.

RIP, iPad 3
