What's actually really odd, is that the main distinguishing difference between "The New iPad" (3rd gen) and "iPad with Retina Display" (4th gen) is just what the title says, the fourth gen has a retina display. But the third gen is definitely more powerful then the second gen because of the new chip. Here's the odd thing, apple still sells the second gen, and of course the fourth gen, but not the third gen. The iPad 3 is better, and more powerful, then the ipad 2 yet Apple doesn't sell it anymore. My theory is that if APple were to sell the 3 and 4 gen, the difference would be in the screens. So they would have to price the two iPads accordingly. This means they would have to make the 3 gen cheaper, obviously because of the lack of a rally nice screen, and APple is scared that if they did that that no one would want to buy the 4gen anymore. It makes sense, right? They have a right to be wary, because the stereotypical casual ipad user is not going to pay more money for an ipad with a better screen. Therefore, Apple would be posing revenue. What do you think? Is my theory correct?

The third gen also has a retina display. The 4th gen has, among other things, a more powerful processor and the newer lightning connector.

RIP, iPad 3
