Apple screws Ipad 3 customers with iPad 4

I purchased iPad 3 two months ago. Now iPad 4 is out and twice as fast. I just wasted 729 dollars? IS nothing going to be done for the loyal apple customers who believed our expensive purchase wouldn't be obsolete in two months? THIS HAS NEVER been apples policy in past to upgrade before a year. Very disappointed

Well thats a start, but little to late for many of their customers not just in the states but globaly.The cellular fix wont fix the rest of the worlds 4G capabilities as its totaly on the wrong frequency for europe ect.Well lets wait and see what the out come is but if whats happened recently has any thing to go by i aint holding my breath.I am new to apple products within the last 18 months and was pretty much happy untill the 4G , maps and now obsoleting the ipad 3 totaly from their line up so soon and to keep a lesser product just baffles me totaly..Surely this isnt the actions of a company thats supposed to be in the forefront of technolagy and an inavation compared to the competition..This looks like a company thats starting to put their profits foremost before theyre customers and some very loyal ones at that.This is going to be damaging in the long run & i guess or hope that this fiasco will be a hard lesson learnt for all concerned & this is aimed at all..

I've not been so lucky, I bought my very first ipad, an ipad 3 32gb +wifi +4g from PC World on the 4th of October, 20 days before apple made it obsolete.


I see that 2nd hand prices for almost new are now c 50% of what I paid for it.

My argument with both apple and pcworld, is that if they were both transparent and told me in advance, that they were going to double the speed of the model and add other tech improvements for the same price, no way would I have parted with my hard earned cash.


Both apple and pcworld have effectively told me to sod off


What treatment from the biggest company in the world, and probably the biggest IT retailer in the UK. They get rich by screwing customers over

I've written to dixons and apple us, but dont know the uk apple contact for this issue, can anyone oblige? has anyone had chance to write a faq?

I'm doing my best to lobby on twitter @davidtrevose, but we need to leverage this up and quickly. Its daylight robbery.

So i walked into the Apple store in my local mall, i was just looking around when one of the sales men stepped up to me and asked if i needed any help, i decided to take this opportunity to express my disgust on how apple had treated its iPad3 customer with the release of the new iPad, so i said to the sales man well i was think about buying the new iPad mini but after the stunt Apple pulled with the iPad 3 i think i will wait before i decide buy another iPad.he went on to say that my iPad was not obsolete and so on and so forth( you could tell that he had been already trained on how to respond) to witch i replied i am sorry but Apple always had 12 month refresh there new hardware, and how do i know that if i buy the iPad mini that in 5 or 6 moths from now Apple wont pull the same stunt, i thanked for his help and walked away

think of it this way...in one year, after you purchased you last ipad, you can get a newer model that is 2 upgrades from what you have now! so basically, you will be getting something twice as good in half the time!

I think it is a good point about these forums being used incorrectly but I have not found anywhere else to go.


Who do you write too. What is the address to complain.

Weather you agree we have a complaint at all is not the point.

Customer service has been rubish here in my view.

Apple should get a statement out ok it won't be what we want to here but new customers will may see a new side to apple. That why they won't make a statement until after they see the sales for iPad 4.


I posed in another thread which got deleted because it breaks the rules.

Apple play the game give your customers here in the uk somewhere to complain to.

You can't ask for anything other than that.


I do see both sides to this argument. But I did think they would release a new iPad within 7 months and If I would have know would have quite happily waited.


Spend £60 to go to London kids in toe after being told that I could exchange my iPad for voucher and then be told and I quote apple from on high have stopped us doing this seems to me to be a bit tough luck mate.

My kids excitement for apple products also seemed to go down hill.

Don't need to much more of these and the next generation will have a very different view of apple than we used to have.

Cool products no customer service will eventually end in no business.

Since you seem to know everything already, I certainly can't think of a thing with which I could assist you, but, if you send Tim Cook a written message, I suggest that you proofread it very carefully. If you send him a letter angrily accusing him of subrogating Apple's corporate "intents and porpoises", he will not take you seriously. Seriously.

Can I ask though we're in all this do Uk customers stand?, I bought mine from Argos here in the UK?, a major reseller, the product is made by Apple , shipped by Apple to The Uk?, and I bought mine mid October. the major problem I have with all this is the wifi pick up ( even in my living room ) is terrible it seems to have a problem getting reception?, should I take it back to Argos?.
