Purchased books collection empty on iPad

I updated to iBooks 3.0 on my iPhone 4S and iPad 2, both running iOS 6.0. Everything is fine on my iPhone, but on my iPad the "Purchased Books" collection is empty. The books I had downloaded were in my Books collection and the all books show up in the purchased area of the store, but nothing shows up in the library purchased area. In addition, some books I had downloaded showed as not being installed in the purchased area of the store.

I tried deleting all books off my iPad, but that didn't help. I noticed the books I deleted off my iPad showed up in the books area on my iPhone (but not downloaded). When I delete books of my iPhone it asks me if I want to delete them off all devices, but I don't get that option when deleting books on my iPad. Despite that, collections do appear to sync, though not instantly, and deletions on the iPad do eventually show up on the iPhone.

I tried removing iBooks on my iPad, restarting the iPad and reinstalling, but that didn't fix the problem. It also didn't remove any of the PDFs I had on my iPad. It also seemed to cause the books I deleted on my iPad to show up on my iPhone.

It seems like my iPad's book area is corrupt somehow. How can I fix this?

You should only have to do it once. The way syncing works is if you download a book on one device, it adds the book icon with a cloud to the same collection, but doesn't actually download it, until you tap the icon. Maybe that's what you saw.

I had the same problem, all I had to do since resetting all settings did not worked it's log off from the ibookstore, (not the appstore) and log back in, went to purchased items in the "purchased" section and saw books there with the icloud download button, then I went back to the ibooks app and it worked, all apps where there.

Reset all setting worked for me only after I log out and back in iTunes Store and App Store. I don't know, but maybe just log out and back in iTunes Store and App Store helps and you don't need reset all setting. I said maybe. Try.

Without doing anything....the purchased books are now showing up on my iPhone.

Still waiting to see them on the iPad.

Can't believe Amazon can do an app that does this perfectly, and Apple can't.

I have reset three times and logged out and back into the App Store and iTunes. Some books in the purchased area have the iCloud symbol and do download correctly, but the most recent ones are shown as in the process of downloading but aren't. I can't delete them to try again. I have the books on my iPhone, so I am reluctant to upgrade iBooks on it. I guess I will have to contact Apple, but I anticipate they will tell me to do a restore. Does anyone have any other suggestions before I resort to the restore?

I just did a "Reset All Settings" on my iPhone 5 and my Purchased Book section has now populated just fine. Thanks for the heads up!

I finally got all of my books back by syncing the iPad and removing the books stuck on downloading. I was then to download them on the iPad.
