Hello Folks. Igo to a news site, then a drop down: cannot verify certificate "static.ak.facebook.com" could put information at risk; connect anyway? --But It happens at several sites. I do not do facebook.
Any thoughts or information from anyone, I hope?
Same for me. Just started tonight.
same here..started late this afternoon. Only happens in safari and not IE on my windows machine.
I too have this issue; started today. What do I do to fix it?

Good, not so good, but appears to be an issue for many. Not sure why it started, but I have cleared history, cookies, etc. Checked my dates (it was okay). Just annoying. So, like you, I'll just hope it clears up. If anyone finds the real issue and how to clear up, look forward to the answer. Thanks!
I saw a different page than that one, before I came here-also old. I had read a comment a few months back where a fellow got castigated for not opening his own thread...that one though that I read tonight,from way back, BDAqua had suggested empty cache (now under develop in menu) which I tried...
So anyway, I figure it is that company akamai...but WHY it says facebook is beyond me. I do not do facebook. I have no interest in being farmed for data miners and nobody is interested in me anyhow, so why do it.. hahaha
I imagine nobody there is at work to complain their certificate is not set up right... so, I will see if it is there tomorrow. Be well everyone!
I have the same problem..Not sure if it's coincidence but For me it occured the following day after I updated the java security update for OS 10.6.8.
Chrome isn't affected..
Just started receiving the very same message ~21:30 PST. What is this? Do I just press "Continue?"
I press cancel and I stay on the page i went to. I won't press continue, I have NO IDEA what would happen. But if you do, and live, tell us.
hahahaha no don't try it. Nobody has a definitive answer what is happening....
looks like it is an issue involving safari integrating with facebook. I have exhausted all attempts at tracking down a solution but since we are all having the exact same issue at the same time, I would be willing to guess there is nothing wrong with our computers.
Same thing here. Pretty annoying. I've even reseted my Safari — which ***** hard.

I did click continue and nothing happened. It looks like it is going to load the "static.ak.facebook" page but nothing loads and it stays grey.
the safari>preferences>security has a thing about being notified when visting fraudulent websites.
you can cancel that -- but I will prefer to keep that setting and hit cancel.
i find this at the akamai website: maybe they brought a new thing online and the certificate is not entered properly yet?

I am getting the same prompt. It is on reliable sites . I just got it on CBS news and CNN Money
I don't have a Facebook account . I am also not computer savvy to know how to correct this

I only have a desktop iMac and not other Apple products. I am also wired not wireless

I hit show certificate and read the stuff (copied it just in case) and looked into akamai the company that got, via...I forget, GTE I think, and they, akamai, do - well I told about it above....
I just click cancel and the page stays where I went to, instead of someplace else...
I will wait to tomorrow. It is late here now.
