Does iPad mini Wifi come with GPS

GPS is very important function of device like iPad but it is not listed on tech-specs of iPad mini wifi version. Is it true that it does not come with GPS?

You quoted Alancito's post from December 2012 which summarized it quite nicely and then garbled the information. That's why I assumed you need more assistance.

Alancito provided some really great information about the Wifi being able to determine location which is why I quoted it. But the other important aspect of the conversation (not covered in his post) was the lack of a specific GPS chip, which folks like SportsDew helpfully explained. Hence I felt both bits of information should be included in my summary of the answer. So I don't think I need any more assistance at this point.

Do you feel that summarising 7 pages of conversation and technical discussion is somehow unhelpful for new or less technically proficient readers? That is all I was trying to do.

If you are concerned about the accuracy of my interpretation of the information (since to you it is clearly "garbled") then by all means please post some helpful corrections. If on the other hand you are done with this thread and would rather not receive any more posts after which ever arbitrary date you feel the thread is "dead" then simply unsubscribe from it.

It is unhelpful when you take a correct and easy-to-read explanation and garble it with misleading verbiage.

Philly_Phan, can you please point me to the correct and easy-to-read explanation that talks about both the Wifi being able to determine location and the lack of a specific GPS chip, because I seem to have missed it. These are the two pieces of the puzzle I needed (as a novice) to fully answer the question.

I am obviously not as au fait with GPS technology as yourself, so I apologise if my interpretation of the information was incorrect. By misleading verbiage do you mean because I said "limited GPS capability" instead of "GPS-like capability". Perhaps you could let me know where I went wrong. But I certainly didn't think my summary was excessively lengthy or verbose (the meaning of verbiage). Is that what you meant to say?

Alancito explained it quite well over two years ago.

Thank you. You have just proven my point.

You believe that Alancito's answer is the "best" answer.

And yet...

- Is it the solution chosen by the OP and posted on page 1? No.

- Is it therefore easy to find? No. It's buried halfway down page 3.

- Does it fully answer the OP's question. No. He's actually answering someone else's question and only talks about Wifi triangulation. While the information is very useful he doesn't talk about the lack of GPS.

Perhaps you can see now why I felt the need to extract the relevant information and summarise it for new readers.

You chose to add incorrect and misleading information.

I have already offered my own correction and given you a further opportunity to set things straight, but instead you just keep saying I am wrong and now you're opting out of the discussion!... Incredibly helpful. To be honest, you appear to be more interested in shooting down and dismissing novice posters in a hostile, elitist fashion instead of actually adding anything constructive.
