iPad as a on camera video monitor

With the new iPad mini or iPad 4 would be great to be able to use the iPad as a video monitor for my Sony NX70U Video camera, using the HDMI out from the camera to the iPad. Anyone know of any apps that can accoplish this feat. If not someone could make some real $$$ if they figure this out.

iPads and other iDevices can produce video out via HDMI and other connectors, but what you're asking for is video in. The best way for your camera would presumably be to connect it to a computer with HDMI-in capability and then stream 1080p video to the iPad via a local wi-fi network. I'll leave answering how to stream live 1080p video to an iPad to those with experience doing so.

HDMI is the real bottleneck here -- what you really need is a camera that streams video all on its own, so that the iPad can receive it directly from the camera. Must be a wi-fi router out there somewhere with an HDMI-in port: try googling hdmi wi-fi router -- showed me at least one promising device.

Hi there. I was interested in your post about using an iPad as a monitor for video.

I'm a pro organist and very often I am pinned to the side of a cathedral wall or in a position

where I can't see the conductor. I'd love to find a kit where I can fix up a camera into an iPad

that displays the moving image in real time - as in, no delay. I have to see the conductor's arms

move on screen at exactly the same time as it happens - with no delay or ghosting.

I have an old (8yrs or so) video camera with an AV output which I can plug into an old,

small portable TV screen and that works fine, but it's a lot of kit and caboodle to carry around

and find space for in often small organ lofts! Anyone have any ideas for a simple camera

into iPad set-up in real time?

I play in pit ortchestra and unfortunately, there is no ZERO latency wireless solution.

Here's what I use in the pit:

1) http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/361155-REG/EverFocus_EN200_EN_200_5_6_Inch _LCD_Monitor.html

2) http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/546433-REG/Swann_SW211_DSC_13120_SW211_DSC _13120_DIY_Security_Cam.html

plus all the necessary cables.

It'd be nice to use the ipad, but right now it isn't feasable, even with something like this, there is a .25 second delay - http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/859076-REG/Teradek_CUBE_255_Cube_255_HDMI_ Encoder.html

hope this helps.....

hi All,

The only devices I know of are...

iUSBPort and iUSBPort Camera devices sold by Hypershop. I keep forgetting the name of the company that makes the product. I own the Hyperdrive UDMA2 device, a HDD with a screen and one Compact Flash card slot and one SD Memory card slot. This device creates its own Adhoc network to connect to the device or it can connect to an infrastructor network to transfer data. Chack out my review on my Youtube Channel "capturetheball".

So, these other devices work the same way. It all depends for me is how is the reponce time. If it is to slow then the product will not be that usefull. Will probably be to frustrating. but on the other hand I use ML on my camera so Maybe if I adjust tweak the FPS amount it might work. I am trying to find some reviews which are few and far between.

The Company said during Mac World 2013 that iUSBcamera would probably only work at 15 FPS. I was unable to test the device at Mac World. It sounds like the device is mainly for viewing Photos more than video.
