Preventing iBooks Author Media Optimization

Hello!

I know this is an old thread, but when I placed my first embedded video into iBooks Author the optimization took only a few seconds. I am embeding my second one now and the time kept creaping up and appears to be stuck on 59 minutes and 57 seconds. Not sure if this means the estimated time is now over a hour and it doesnt know how to handle that? However, it seems a bit ridiculous. It is only a ~4 minute video clip I created. I did use screenflow a while back and then recently trimmed it with quicktime. Any suggestions? I could upload to youtube and put a link, but embedded is just much better all around!

Just have to say that the Books Author 2.0 is killing me! I think this thread may have provided the reason, so thanks for that. I used to be able to hook up an A/V composite cable to the ipad and video the video on the t.v. - now I'm getting audio only - NO VIDEO. It's been making me absolutely crazy. Looks like I've got some more exporting/testing to do. Not sure why apple had to fuss around with something that worked just fine the way it was!

Can you tell me where to find the iBooks Author's script, so I can rename it and disable the optimzer. I don't actually need to publish this book, I can just export it and put it on my iPad for now.

This is the info on a video after being passed through the optimizer. The key is the final resolution of 640 x 480. No matter what size you import it will be converted to 640 x 480. If you make it that resolution first and H.264, then it will not require optimization.
