Wifi "dead-zone" in my house that wasn't present before...

Hi,

I have a time capsule that I am sure is working just fine. I am just a little perplexed about an issue I am having right now. When I have my Macbook in a certain room in my house, my webpages either don't load, or take a very long time to load. If I move to the door way of the same room, then I can get them to load fine. It does this with both of the Macbooks that I own so I know it isn't my computer. The funny thing is, that I used to not have this issue at all in this room. None of my wifi setting have changed. I have all of the same equipment set up in the house, so nothing has been added that might be causing interference that wasn't present when my wifi connection was working great.

I have added two pictures, the first is a speed test when I am in the "dead zone", the second, when I am at the door way where wifi works fine.

Any ideas or suggestions on what might be causing the issue?

Without knowing a ton of details about your network and all the other wireless networks, cordless phones, wireless camera/security systems that might be located around you, it is tough to come up with specific answer for your problem.

I can say that I had a very similar problem in one area of the house for a number of months. Never could figure out what it was. One day, my next door neighbor moved, and when he did the problem went away...so it must have been something at his house that was causing the interference in a certain part of my house.

Another time, I had a strange problem when my son and his wife were visiting with the new grandson. My network has been working flawlessly for a long time, but started acting up in the bedroom area of the house...but this happened only at certain times. Can you guess what the problem was? It was the wireless baby monitor.

So, I think it might help to understand that there dozens of things that may cause the wireless in your home to act up in certain areas and not others. Finding out what that might be will be the hard part.

Sometimes, manually locking down the channel that your router is using can help as well. It is somewhat of a guessing game to find the "right" channel, but that might be worth a try. Keep in mind that you will likely have to change things again because other routers around you...and cordless phones...are changing their channels all the time automatically.

So, the "right" channel today might not be the right channel a few days from now. Good luck in your quest.
