How can I mute games but leave phone ringer on?

I am brand new to iPhone, just acquired an iPhone5. I have added a few games, such as Carcassonne and Ticket to Ride. When I play them, the music is kind of annoying, so I hold down the low volume button until it is muted. But then I have discovered that the phone no longer rings when a call comes in (if for instance, I put the phone back in my pocket without upping the volume back to normal). I assume there must be a setting to allow the phone to ring, but still have game sounds muted?

Thanks,

BM.

each game has different sound settings, there's no way to just turn off the sounds for all games overall because their settings are determined by their developers. When you're playing a certain game, you can leave the ringer on and go to the settings of the game itself (within the game's menu) and turn off sounds and/or music. this will leave your ringer settings untouched

Yeah, that's the best I have found thus far. But there must be a way to leave the phone ringer on, but turn the sound off in games. I keep missing calls because my phone has the volume at zero. So now I am reduced to playing games with earphones plugged in but which I don't have in my ears (which is kind of lame) because at least that way I don't have to remember to up the volume when I am done.

OK, yes, that worked. I pretty well only play board games on the iPhone, and they all seem to have individual sound settings. I should have thought of that, but was thinking there would be one sound option in the Settings for Games/apps, and a separate one for Phone (seems logical to me at any rate). Nevertheless, both Carcasonne and Ticket have sound options now set to zero, leaving the phone at max ringtone.

Tks,

BM.
