i dropped my Ipad sideways, the screen is only black and it wont turn on

I think it is because you smack the screen connector back in place.

after a drop the screen connector might loose a bit and cause these glitches.

my sister's iPad crashes regularly and the screen goes blue and so on. mostly without apple logo. if anyone knows how to fix it, please let me know (i do know the screen was replaced) (first gen iPad mini)

Thank you! Thank you! In the three plus years that I have had my iPad, this is the first time I have ever dropped it. It fell less than six inches and landed on the corner, which was protected by a case. I was so upset when I discovered the screen was black and several attempts at a hard restart failed. I even slapped it on the back as it was suggested in other posts, but still nothing. I finally took it out of its protective case and slapped it and it worked. I am so relieved. Thank you again!!

I read the below answers about turning it upside down and smacking it , thinking it was someone being funny in my time of panic.. Holy cow, it worked!!!!

just worked for me on my 3 year old ipad 2...

My daughter dropped our ipad 2 this morning and the screen went out, my heart sank! I tried this technique thinking this was completely ridiculous, and it worked!! I'm not even kidding! My daughter thinks I'm a genius lol.

This seemed insane but after my toddler JUMPED ON THE IPAD and the screen went red, I figured it couldn't hurt. Stunned and thrilled it worked!!!

Honest to goodness this really worked! I sat in a chair holding the iPad with the screen facing me. I hit the back of it on my knee a little harder each time. Maybe thirty hits to my knee made it come on faintly. A few more hits and it is back to normal!

This was incredibly helpful. I was sceptical at first but it actually worked although it needed a few good hits! I've never felt such relief so thank you so so much!!!

But not to hard .

Wow! Amazing but it worked. My son dropped his iPad Mini and it had a black screen and wouldn't power on. I turned it over and wacked it a couple of times and it is now working perfectly! :) thanks!!

Don't forget to say "bad iPad" whilst doing so...It worked for me...
