iMessage not working on iPhone 5. Help!

I'm so frustrated. I'm a first-time iPhone user. Very limited technical knowledge. iMessage does not seem to be working. Called Apple, and they said all of my settings are correct. Did a restore that took about 9+ hours...no change. I understand that when I am trying to send a message to another apple user, the place where I type my message should say 'iMessage' instead of 'text message', correct? Also something about my speech bubbles should be blue? My sent messages are green.

I text regularly with a friend using an iphone with iMessage activated, in Australia. Unfortunately, this issue I seem to be experienceing has cost me a lot on my Verizon bill! eeks! I NEED to figure this out asap, since that was one of the main reasons for getting an iPhone!

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

You say all your settings are correct so I am assuming that in settings/messages you have imessage turned on. I also assume that you have a data plan with your carrier because data is used for imessage when you are not on wifi. I guess you have cellular data turned on in settings/general then cellular

Mine appears to be back up currently, as well as the apple ID website that wouldnt load at all this morning. Hopefully it stays up this time.

cuz with this outdated system, I can do paragraphs, not just 140 characters... And, I am a cnc machinist, in an environment, where conversation on the phone isn't gonna happen... Too loud... I can do texts/imessages, and it's a much better situation...

My hunch is that this is somehow related to the launch of iPhone on T-Mobile. Or it's just coincidence.

Funny, how all the woes about iMessage's most recent hiccup ended up on my original post--about not having any lkuck getting iMessage to work between my Verizon iPhone 5 in the USA and my friend's iPhone4 (s?) in Australia. Anyone have any insight on this? It works flawlessly to another friend's iPad in australia.

For us country folk, iMessage helps us communicate when there is no cellular signal.

I am with AT&T and have to delete a conversation in order for it to go back onto iMessage. For other friends though, iMessage is working fine for send/receive.

Mine hasn't worked for 3 straight days now. Anyone know what I should do? There hasn't even been a period of time where my iMessages work. Also, along with that, my email is not working on my phone. When I enter my password, it says I'm wrong (and I'm not).

its the same with me for the imessage part, not my email though. everyone i know has had their imessage start working again, and mine hasnt. so frustrating

It's 11 PM In Houston and My iMessage isn't working on my iPhone 5, but I am getting iMessages on my iPad.

Yep mines down too in Kansas. These issues are getting quite frustrating.

*Edit* -> I had my fiance delete her convo history and I did the same, the result was it working again. I'm not sure if it was just a coincidence, or if there was such an influx of messages in her inbox. I do know that I sent her a picture about 10 minutes before it stopped working, and since the picture is gone now, maybe I'm on to something? Who knows.

Just turn you iMessage off then turn it on. Then your problems with your iMessage failure will be solved.

-Looool. What planet do you live on??? You think 50000 people didn't already try that??? This was an iMessage server kind of failure. It's been fixed for weeks.
