Has anyone tried Sophos Anti-Virus for Mac ?

Hi guys,

Just wondering, has anyone tried Sophos Anti-Virus on their MacBook Pro ? Is it good ? Does it slowdown your MacBook Pro ?

Thanks.

MacBook Pro (13-inch Late 2011), Mac OS X (10.7.3)

Hi Thomas,

Since you mentioned that you have tried both ClamxAv and Sophos in your Lion OS, I just want to check with you whether both of these software are easy to uninstall if I don't need it in future. Did it affect your system performance or cause any issues in your Lion OS once you uninstalled it ?

The reason I'm asking is because I had AVG 2012 free anti-virus software on my old laptop (Windows XP) but decided to uninstall it last night. There were so many issues when I tried to uninstall it and not everything associated to this software was removed from the system, hence affecting my system performance. I tried AVG forum, etc and there were many users that experienced the same issues. There were no fixes for many of the users as the AVG removal tool provided by AVG does not work for everyone.

Thanks.

Yes, both uninstall very easily and will leave you with no residual problems, if all goes as it is supposed to. (Of course, with computers, that's never something you can count on, even with the most well-behaved software.)

By the way, I just completed a test of a variety of Mac anti-virus programs. The results are definitely relevant to this discussion. See Mac anti-virus detection rates.
