iOS 6.0.1 WiFi Still Greyed Out

My iPhone's WiFi was working great on iOS 6 when it first came out, no problems whatsoever, until last week it failed over night without me knowing. The WiFi option was still available but unable to connect to my home network and when I rebooted the phone, the WiFI was greyed out. It has not been working since.

I waited for iOS 6.0.1 to come out as I understood that this was supposed to fix the problem many users with iOS 6 have been facing with WiFi connections, but this has not worked. I do not understand why it has failed. I bought this 4S in February and have never dropped it and it has always been in a case. The WiFi was working great before I went to bed and the next morning it was no longer working.

I have reseted the network settings, restored the phone and even tried using the phone as new and this has still not fixed the problem.

Well I, like so many others, am continuing to have issues with my WiFi since upgrading to 6 with no improvement after going to 6.0.1 on my iPhone 4S. All worked great in 5.x. That said, I also noticed another issue the other day that I can only assume are related. I have the Personal Hotspot option on my iPhone, which I use fairly regularly with my iPad when I'm out of the office. It "looks" like it should work, meaning I can turn it on and off, however I can no longer connect to it from my iPad. I noticed that I can still tether it to a laptop, for example, without issue, but that's it. Since I can't tether to my iPad, that just ruined that functionality for me.

Oddly enough, it is beneficial that I have the extra data available on my data plan, since I'm downloading everything over 4G since the WiFi is still busted, but it's very irritating that the Personal Hotspot isn't working anymore either. I wonder if anyone else has noticed this as well.

It would be REALLY NICE of Apple to allow us to downgrade to 5.x while they work out the kinks. But I guess that is to much to ask.

That could be the last option on all the possible things i've done.. if reverting from previous iOS5 still wont work? alas! I welcome Samsung Note 2, this greyed wifi is messing my day really!

And Apple take note!!! it is December Now! I won't buy any Apple product for Christmas Present until you fixed your mess.

Just to add to the growing number of people with the same issue, my Wifi is greyed out too! It's so annoying. At first it just disconnected and showed no available networks to connect to. And then I restarted it and it greyed out. First happened last week. And then it started working again and then two days later, it greyed out again. And then today it worked for an hour and once again it greyed out. It's so frustrating being unable to use wifi on the phone. One of the main reasons I got an iPhone was the ease of accessing the internet. Now I can't do that. I really do hope this issue will get fixed because I'm becoming very disgruntled as the days go by. I got my phone from Australia...but I'm currently in Malaysia, so I stopped using 3G. So, I NEED WIFI! ARGH!

The WiFi on my 4s has been working good for two weeks already since it was last greyed out. Now i really believe that this is a software problem not hardware like others say. When the WiFi came back, since I also have an iPad, I don't play games with my iPhone anymore, stayed out of watching videos.. just pure browsing and normal phone usage.

I've read articles regarding iOS 6.1 beta versions, the upgrade still didn't say anything regarding our issue. 😟 I hope the final iOS upgrade will resolve this.

Dear Tim,

Wi-fi is grayed out in 50% of Iphones of my friends after they upgraded iOS to 6.0. Its not the hardware problem. It's apple's amzing work in the form of iOS 6.0. It is very difficult to access internet at the home and office with Wi-fi connection with tihs wi-fi gray-out option.

After Steve jobs passed away.. apple is concentrating on quantity rather than quality. Please guys... focus on the iOS quality software instead of selling the new iPhone (Iphone 5) and Ipads by increasing the length and reducing the size....!!!!!!! come on wake up

Apple... please resolve the problem ASAP.

Hi eveyone,

Sorry to burst everyone's bubble with regard to this issue being related to the IOS6 update, but my wife's iPhone 4S has exactly the same problem (WiFi greyed-out and no Bluetooth) that started today and she is currently running IOS 5.1.1.

We have avoided updating all of our Apple devices to the new IOS6 because we have heard of so many bugs and issues with people who have updated... ...however this issue of the WiFi being greyed-out and no longer working is obviously not related to the IOS6 update as we have proved!

In any case, it is very poor form for Apple's quality control and they really need to get their act together and start to get back to producing quality products. I know so many former Apple iPhone users that have moved to android devices because they were sick of continuous "rotten Apples" ...kind of makes me feel like I'm being left behind with a "Lemon" instead of the quality Apple products of the past!

I'm in Australia and haven't yet contact Apple, and I don't like the thought of the inconvenience, but it is more inconvenient not having wifi... ...VERY FRUSTRATING indeed!!!

Get your act together Apple if you want to stay in the race!!!
