iOS 6.0.1 WiFi Still Greyed Out

My iPhone's WiFi was working great on iOS 6 when it first came out, no problems whatsoever, until last week it failed over night without me knowing. The WiFi option was still available but unable to connect to my home network and when I rebooted the phone, the WiFI was greyed out. It has not been working since.

I waited for iOS 6.0.1 to come out as I understood that this was supposed to fix the problem many users with iOS 6 have been facing with WiFi connections, but this has not worked. I do not understand why it has failed. I bought this 4S in February and have never dropped it and it has always been in a case. The WiFi was working great before I went to bed and the next morning it was no longer working.

I have reseted the network settings, restored the phone and even tried using the phone as new and this has still not fixed the problem.

I asked about the phone I was given at the service shop and they said it was a factory refurb from Apple. It is as new, but can consist of more or less used components. In my case (in Sweden) the warranty is the original warranty in case you have more than three month left, otherwise it's extended so you get three months warranty on the replacement phone.

I have been following my thread and have found some things. I am currently on holiday and my cellular data coverage is terrible, so I need wifi to do any type of data related function.

I found that the Wifi works after you Reset Network Settings in General and will continue to work until you lock the device. I don't know if auto lock or manual lock affects the bug.

Sometimes after Reset Network Settings the wifi is completely grey so I do it again and it works.

Since Apple will replace what was my NEW iPhone with a refurbished model, I will continue to wait on the replacement. My warranty expires in late January, and I truly believe that this is a software based glitch doomed to return even on a replacement device. I am hoping either a 6.1 or 6.0.2 update will fix this for me.

Good luck and good hunting. I have not had to do the freezer trick since I have been on holiday but I do have to Reser Network Settings about three or four times a day.

I have an iPhone 4S and was experiencing the same wifi grey out and blue tooth issue. I tried everything in all the posts I could find. No luck until I rang apple care Australia and the tech guy there fixed over the phone. I just went to settings, general, reset, reset all settings. All works fine now. Hope this helps those who still don't have wifi.

I'm glad it worked for you. It's working permanently for my iPhone. Big thank you to Brian at apple car Australia for that fix. He worked it out on his personal iPhone at his home in his spare time. Legend. All it did to my phone is wiped wallpaper, but I put it back on and it kept all my apps etc where they were and now my iPhone is working perfectly.

Simple fix. A lot of other apple techies told me it was hardware fault when it wasn't.

"i wont have my phone replaced with a refurbished one, knowing it will come with the same problem."

Why would you make that assumption? My replacement phone works nicely, no greyed out Wi-Fi button anymore.

My experience tells me this is a two part problem though, it's both hardware and software. Replacing my phone solved the greyed out button problem, replacing my Wi-Fi router solved the connection problem. You may have to do one or both of these.

If you've done the restore as new, restore all settings and reset network settings then it is a hardware fault, waiting for an update and replacing your existing resources are a waste of time and money. I called up apple on monday, sent my 7 month old scratched up iphone back and got a 1 month old replacement on friday. They put a whole new housing and battery over it so I cant even tell if it's new or not.

On another note I checked my serial number and it says a production week of 37, and it came with OS5, do you think its new or reurbished? (4s 64gb)

I dont mind either way, a one month old tested and working phone with a new battery is an upgrade from a 7 month old one.

I'm experiencing the same problem! I got wifi problems since 6.0.1, everything worked fine 10 months before!

Is there any solution yet? I tried everything! Is the problem hardware of software related? It seems software because everything worked before 6.0.1?!

The nearest Genius-bar is a 400 miles roundtrip and I have only 1 month warranty left...

What should I do? I don't want a refurbished one...I just want mine to be fixed...
