Feb 12, 2013 4:57 AM in response to Morar95by Bamjam2013,Superb. I have the same problem, which wasn`t solved by update to 6.1.1.
Hey Apple: What are you thinking to solve this issue? Are you willing to pay me back my increasing carrier costs?
I am not very happy with this situation and the mass of growing issues with your products.

Feb 12, 2013 5:00 AM in response to Morar95by badgoggles,I'm not sure if it was supposed to sort the wifi problem but its sorted my constant "no service" to my mobile provider. It was getting more off then on. Touch wood it's been on constant since 6.1.1 :)
FYI I'm with 3 if that helps?

Feb 12, 2013 5:06 AM in response to Morar95by rsigel,I`ll post my last try to fix this piece of s.h.i.t that we call iPhone 4S.
- Turn off Cellular Data
- Open native app "Camera"
- Put on video mode (do not record)
- Turn on the flashlight and wait for 20~30minutes
- Passing this time and iPhone will be too hot, force restart device.
Voilá, WIFI working again!!! My wife`s 4S is working for 20hours in WIFI, it`s a miracle hahaha....
I discover 2 things:
- The problem is in the Firmware and not the Software, some crash on safe`s sensor program, if it exists hahaha...
- Crash with Cellular Data. If i turn on the Cellular Data with WIFI together, in short time WIFI greys out!
Try this experience and let me know here!

Feb 12, 2013 5:10 AM in response to rsigelby badgoggles,You forgot to mention waiting for Saturn to be low in the south and eclipsing with the sun. If this problem wasn't so real and unacceptable, that might have been funny :)

Feb 12, 2013 5:21 AM in response to Morar95by Bamjam2013,I called apple support and after all issue descriptions and my promise that I have already reseted, updated, deleted... I did everything what a normal user can do, okay. The women told me "This is a hardware issue, but I am sorry, your warranty time of your 4S expired."
Sorry Apple: Is that realy your official statement?

Feb 12, 2013 6:36 AM in response to rsigelby djescobar973,I haven't read a "fix" here that hasn't been temporary. Every fix outhere hasn't lasted. The ONLY way to get this fixed is to get it replaced. Who knows what it is. Hardware failure, software related... Who knows. But Apple sure doesnt. Let's be real here. When I spoke to a Manager at the store and on the phone, neither would budge on replacing it for me. I have to pay 199, point blank period. And it ***** that I may have to bite this bullet and pay it becuause I haven't been able to use Facetime, downloading my apps take forever and now I'm getting messages from AT&T that I have been exceeding data usage and my speeds will be capped if it continues. I know this is isnt hardware related....

Feb 13, 2013 1:45 AM in response to danlamsby itsdazzler,Not without jailbreaking. When I updated my iPhone 4S to 6.1 it was fine until last weekend when I had the same wifi button greyed out problem as everyone else. After several restarts I managed to get it back but can't connect to any wifi network either and iOS 6.1.1 did nothing.
Very, very disappointed in Apple. My phone is still in warranty and I have a Genius Bar appointment on Friday so hopefully will get it replaced but not confident problem will go away.

Feb 13, 2013 8:40 AM in response to itsdazzlerby keithraw, this worked, in terms of resolving greyed out. I still cannot get network though.
turn on airplane mode
turn phone off
take sim out
put sim back in and turn phone on
wifi available again
hopefully you can get it to find a netwotk too.
good luck.

Feb 13, 2013 10:48 PM in response to keithrawby karenfrommallala,Thank you, thank you thank you.... I've been doing this for weeks as it worked once but not since, however I didn't turn
Have airplane mode on... Tried this and bingo it worked... I think charging phone in car made it grey out last time, it seems to get quite warm and we've had very hot weather lately... Again thank you very much

Feb 16, 2013 2:05 AM in response to Morar95by Algreick,Hi,
I just updated my iphone 4s to the latest IOS version 6.1.1. After that, the Wifi greyed out issue occur. I restarted my phone several times and I already reset Network settings but same issue persist. My phone is still under warranty until May. By the way Im from the Philippines.
None of the solution provided on this discussion worked yet. Is there any update/feedback yet from Apple about the issue?
Best regards,
Algreick

Feb 16, 2013 4:09 AM in response to Bamjam2013by adawstriya,do you think this was done with intention to promote the iphone 5? they keep offering updates and i was too naive to take them all thinking apple will do their best to keep the level of their product up there. what did we get???? problems. but i was wrong . ... very disappointing. tsktsk

Feb 16, 2013 7:44 AM in response to Morar95by SeanMcLaughlin16,I Took my phone in to apple today after not being able to connect to wifi due to the same problem your having and i was told that the wifi chip inside was getting old and the update that i downloaded pushed it too far and "broke down" couldnt be fixed by another alternative so i received a refurbished iPhone 4s instead.
