iPad mini not charging
My iPad mini won't charge at all. I tried the wall adapter that came with it, the adapter for my iPhone, and a couple others I had around the house. Is anyone else having this problem??

Well, hopefully this will help (although the original question was just a few years ago) --
There seems to be a weird quirk in charging that it appears it is not working, when in fact it is charging. It will go white almost immediately and say "not charging" but in cord after cord I have used, I found that the iPad Mini is in fact charging. Once it gets to 100 percent, it goes GREEN.
Hope this helps.
Mine just quit charging. I get the sound that it's charging, it charges for about a second and goes to "not charging." I tried all the usb outlets on the computer. They work for the iphone but not for the mini.
First time posting.
I haven't used an apple product since the original iphone 4. Just last week I got the brand new iPad mini shipped to me. Once I took it out of the box I realized that it wasn't fully charge, and so I quickly plugged in the new lightning connector to the ipad. I plugged the other end to the adapter that was provided for me in the box and yet it still would not charge. After almost a week of struggling and reading tons of forums regarding other consumers with the same problem I decided to fiddle with the lightning connector.
It turned out that it was the connectors problem. I must bend the connector about 30 degrees in order for it to charge.
I love the iPad mini, but common Apple, defective cable? Defintely not what I expected.
Will be getting the cable exchanged tomorrow.
Had the same problem. You can't have it plugged into a power bar. Plug in directy to the wall.
i have the same problem , i am feeling bab cause I am from Bangladesh
I fully understand that the best way to charge a device is by using the supplied power cables and adapters (in case of ipad, iphone, ipod) However, plugging my iPad mini into a powered Belkin 7 port hub, SHOULD still allow the iPad mini to charge when on. It isn't. This is not good.
I am having exactly the same flaws with my iPad mini too. It's neither the ios or the power adapter problems. I am expecting it being fully charged overnight but apparently it's not! Which is very frustrating. The power adapter heated up if charging for long which I assumed it is unfit for the bigger battery like the iPad. Whereas three adapter that came with iPad 2 & 3 posses no problem to the ipad mini.
Called apple technical support but they found no solutions to it! Is anyone contacted them on this issuer before?
Just spoke to a representative who made it quite clear... iPads and minis draw more power, more than a normal USB hub puts out. It does work directly connected to my MacMini though...I can turn it off and it WILL charge. Problem solved.
I have just bought an iPad mini and it will not charge. Excuse my ignorance...does it have to be on to facilitate charging ? Where can I find the charging icon ? Sorry, but I am miles away from an Apple Store !
Thanks, in anticipation.
I also have issues when charging my brand new iPad mini. I got astonished when I tried to charge it yersterday and realized it took more more time to charge than my iPod Touch 4th generation, which really charges very fast! It even did'nt charge completely so when I got home I put mi iPad mini to charge overnight, at about 12.30 AM, when it had about 13% charge left.
This morning I got shocked when I saw at 6 Am that it hadn't charged completely. Just 96%, which means the iPad mini can't be totally charged during a 6 hours charging session. So after reading all these posts I get
disappointed with this huge issue for iPad users. How can we endure such a long charging sessions for a device that you normally use all the time. For instance, when you're traveling you always need to charge the iPad very quickly. Just a few travelers would allow their ipads to rule their schedules on such a bizarre way!
I was also worried because I don't live in the States. It was my brother who bought it for me, so taking my device to the Apple Glass Cube in New York or any other retailer or just to have this issue technically solved is a big problem for me! So international customers who think to buy this wonderful mini tablet should consider that such a marvelous device is dealing with an absurd and disappointing big problem related to an aspect costumers would hardly imagine.
1. try soft reset by holding power + home button for 10 seconds
2.blow out your charging port
3. try hard reset
4. when still not working exchange it in your local apple reseller/store.
Same problem, charging until 90-93%, the charging stop! It is charge with ipad mini came with adapter.
1. Brand new ipad mini came with 80% remainning batt life, drained it to 0%. Charge it with came with adapter. And stop at 93%
2. Drained it again to 0%, charge it with ipad mini came with adapter, stop at 90%.
3. Factory reset by Apple Store, charge it with original adapter from 59% left, it went up and stop to 90% only.
4. Drained it to 50%, use iphone 4S adapter, reached 100% successfully.
5. Drained it to 0%, use iphone 4S adapter, reached 100% successfully.
Seems like Apple shipped problematic adapter to many of us..
Called twice to Apple call centre.
Visited Apple store once =(
Going to visit again since I schedule an appt for adapter replacement!
Disappointed with Apple quality management.
see what happens with me is that i can plug it in directly from the wall but when i plug in into my labtop it says "Not charging" so i dont know what to do in this situation like is it a cable problem or computer problem
***!!! since there were many of us are facing the same issue i am wondering why no one from APPLE reply the threads here!! this has raised my question on the effectiveness of this discussions site and what is worse was there is no direct communications tools to apple. Supports number provided were attended with unprofessional consultants!!
GET US A NEW ADAPTER IF THE 3-PIN ADAPTER SHIPPED TOGETHER WITH THE IPAD MINI FOUND TO BE FAULTY ONES!!
So, was there any solution given to you? mind to share?
I've tried multiple chargers, multiple outlets, and still only charges for a few minutes, then stops. I'm sending it back.
