Can't get iOS 6 update to install on my iPad

I've tried all of the suggested fixes I've found online & many others but still can't get my iPad 2 (wifi & 3g) to update to iOS 6. I've the latest OSX and iTunes, my anti-virus is off but I get the msg firmware file is corrupted when it unpacks the file.

I've also tried downloading the file directly and then using the Alt+Update sequence to point iTunes at the download rather than using the Apple update servers but I get the same problem.

Completely out of ideas now. Anyone got any suggestions?

Update via wifi (not connected to your computer).

Thanks for this. I hadn't seen the wireless update article before but unfortunately, having backed up, when I select the wireless update from the iPad, it tries to verify the update and then tells me it can't as I'm no longer connected to the Internet - which I am as other apps work and the speed test shows 50mb of broadband.

Connect to a power source (wall socket) to keep Wi-Fi alive for Wi-Fi updating.
