my i phone 4s will not switch off and ive got a apple sign and a bar empty underneath ,,how do i turn it off and get it working again please , ps i have held down button on top but it will not turn off >??????????

Try:
- iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
- Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- If still not successful that indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.
Hard reset, hold down home and power button at the same time (usually for about 10 seconds or so until the screen goes black)
