Compressor wont cancel

Hi there

How can I force compressor to cancel compression ?

I have clicked on cancel but it is not cancelling

When I force quitting and resend new compression jobs those that I wanted to cancel before still appear as active even though "cancelling" is showing

Thanks a lot in advance

The files are sent from FCP to compressor

If you are sending from fcp to compressor, I don't think you should ever use a cluster. Just use "this computer." Don't think it makes things happen any faster, and you often have this sort of problem.

If you used "this computer" rather than a cluster and can't stop it in the history window, you can go into the task manager (in the appllications: utilities folder) and stop the process. Not sure which one it is, but it is one of the ones with compressor in the name.

Hi Michael.

Resetting the Qmaster share prefs was kind of a Hail Mary idea that I borrowed from someone else.

My Compressor/Qmaster experience over three versions has actually been outstanding compared to other pro apps – very stable – and I typically can't reproduce many of the problems that some users report on these boards. Of course everyone has a somewhat different systems configuration, different plug-ins etc which probably account for 95% of the reasons why some "bugs" exist for some and not for others.

But just a few times I have had jobs that refused to cancel, regardless of what buttons I "pushed". Even rebooting the machine didn't seem to phase Qmaster…it resumed doing whatever it was doing after I relaunched. I frankly cannot now remember how those were resolved…a random click perhaps.

I still hope the OP will post what it was that worked for him.

Hi Russ,

Frankly, I am not sure...

I restarted quite a few times, sometimes, it would not quit ...and each time I would restart, I would get the ongoing compression starting again.

This is not the first time I hit this problem, and I don't remember how I solved it previously.

I wish I could say what worked !

I have the feeling that you need to

1) quit FCP, 2) force quit Compressor, 3) shut down the coputer. Not just restart....

Next time, I will carefully check what I do...because I am pretty sure there will be a next time soon....
