why can't I get audio through my dock connector?

What generation Nano do you have? Did it ever worked previously?

5th generation iPod Nano with the video camera.....I've tried with both the 8 gb and the 16 gb model and I get the same issue

The 5th generation Nanos have never been able tp play music the the dock connector cable in my vehicle. I can play through the headohone cable fine but I would prefer to use through the dock connector cable since all my other iPods work through this cable (2nd gen nano 2 GB, 20 GB color classic, 1st Generation iPod touch as well as my 120 GB Classic)
My guess is that is not compatible somehow. As to why, I cannot answer that.

I have a dock connector to 3.5 mm plug in my vehicle to play through the aux in my stereo system but I get no sound coming from the nano, why? it works with my iPod classic
