LTE not available on LTE enabled network in Belgium (Belgacom)

I was very excited about the opening of the first public LTE network in Belgium by the carrier Belgacom.

This carrier runs LTE on 1800MHz which is supported by my european iPhone 5.

Apparently Apple blocks access or is not willing to provide a carrier settings update for us to access this LTE network?

iPhone 5, iOS 6.0.1

Can you all please stop getting worked up about it?

The 4G network has only become available since 1 week.

Mobistar is supposed to officially launch its 4G network in the coming weeks, and even Base should follow in the next months.

As mobistar is the official partner I can imagine they'll put a carrier update for others in their general setting with a next release (after christmas) so that their partner has the edge over the all important holiday sales period :-) That's just business I guess.

No need to ***** about it...

MD2**NF numbers indicate color and storage capacity. Don' think that would matter here.

Everybody check your settings->general and add your info to this topic.

LTE Not working

hey Auka,

Yes I also send you my number a few days ago and you activated the LTE for me because it was inactive.

But as you mentionned before that the girl/woman did an update to 6.0.1 a few days ago (and she is on 4G) I thought that maybe there is a difference in the update via OTA or the full update. So I tried, but it doesn't work.

All European iPhone are the same (identical hardware): model A1429

In the software almost every country has another model number. I have model MD297B, Bought in Britain. DN: Germany, NF: France/Belgium etc.

They should all be compatible with the Proximus LTE network as they have identical hardware

Why some iPhones now work with LTE is a mistery. Mine doesn't work either btw. Yesterday I was in Leuven all day long, I only had 3G.(iOS 6.01)

@JBosman

Just got back and you're correct. Didn't get any 4G. I guess you're right that I first need the LTE switch.

Was worth trying. Altough I live in a 4G zone, I thougt that the signal was maybe not strong enough to pass through the walls :-)

And I also read somewhere that the phone first needs to detect 4G before the switch is enabled.

Auka,

I also work at Belgacom and have an iPhone 5 without 4G connectivity or 4G/LTE switch.

About those people on the Proximus 4G network using an iPhone 5:

Isn't it possible these are roaming users from a carrier who does officially support LTE as seen on Apple's page?

Either way, I have tried everything too, but no 4G. Can I send you my number to check if it's activated on my MSISDN?

@Auka

Is it possible that it has something to do with the 4G setting that you had to activate for us in the Proximus-database ?

Is that setting well pushed (commited) to all of your systems ? Maybe a refresh is required ?

I have no idea how your systems work, but it's just an idea. It's not normal that some customers are on 4G and others are not.
