Hey guys,

I'm pretty new to this forum and DIY fixing so a step by step break down would be so helpful!

Every few minutes my Safari will open up and automatically go to a website "http://r.twimg.com/jot" - the title of the page is jot 1x1 pixels.

Do I have some kind of virus and is there any fix to this? It's so frustrating when I'm watching a movie or working on a paper to have Safari randomly pop up every 2-3 minutes.

Any help is seriously appreciated! Thanks.

In that case, your Dashboard must still have something on it, though you cannot see it. Perhaps a 1x1 pixel image in a web clipping, which would be easily hidden from view and could have been accidentally added to the Dashboard. Try resetting your Dashboard according to the directions here:

Note that the Library folder in question is invisible in OS X 10.8, so hold down the option key while opening the Go menu in the Finder, and select the Library item that appears there.
