D7zero Calculating status...

Hey guys,

I'm pretty new to this forum and DIY fixing so a step by step break down would be so helpful!

Every few minutes my Safari will open up and automatically go to a website "http://r.twimg.com/jot" - the title of the page is jot 1x1 pixels.

Do I have some kind of virus and is there any fix to this? It's so frustrating when I'm watching a movie or working on a paper to have Safari randomly pop up every 2-3 minutes.

Any help is seriously appreciated! Thanks.

Do you do anything Twitter-wise?  r.twimg.com belongs to twitter.

It seems not to be a Apple problem.

http://r.twimg.com/jot pops up serveral times with a new tab in Firefox on a Win7 netbook.

Dont know what generates this and how to stop it.

reset Safari or at least trash cookies and clean Safari cache.

I also have this exact problem, same domain and screen. I've spent at least 3 hours on the phone with Apple support, gone to 3 different levels of support and still have the problem.  I don't use Twitter and never have!  I've tried to reset Safari and clean out the cache, several times, still nothing.

Do you have any web clips on your dashboard?

I have a few that are causing the same.

My guess is r.twimg.com/jot is a tracking pixel.

Try removing the web clips and see if that fixes it.

    thanks for the tips.

i read in another string of posts on this very subject that widgets caused this problem. but we don't have any widgets on our laptop here.

and i'm not sure how to remove a web clip or what one is. thanks for your continued help!!

I ended up having the same anomaly right after I have installed a widget tracking commodities prices.

Has there been any solutions yet to this problem? I've been working on it but still no fix, it's very annoying and reminds me of havig a virus on a windows computer.

    Thanks

Are you using Thunderbird to view RSS feeds? If so, see:

Is this happening in Safari? On all sites? If so, what extensions do you have installed? (Safari -> Preferences -> Extensions) If only when you have specific sites loaded, it's a problem with those sites.
