Recording audio Melodyne back into Logic?

Using Melodyne. Got my vocal track tuned.

How would I 'record' the Melodyne audio BACK into a Logic Audio track?

The Melodyne audio is invisible ... stored away in its own folder, with a code.

I want to be able to have this audio on a track in my Logic Project, where I can see and edit it, and do things like audio-to-midi.

I can simply Bounce that track out and bring it back in ... mmmm ... maybe that IS the most 'Logical' way to do it.

Or is there a way, out of curiosity, to record the Melodyne audio back onto a Logic track WITHOUT bouncing?

All ears, Ben

I'm in Logic 9.

The only Bounce I know is to bounce to the Bounce folder, then import what is bounced BACK into Logic and install it on the timeline.

Bounce in Place suggests that I can bounce the Melodyne right onto an existing track of my choice? Perhaps you could point me in the direction of how to do this. I'm going to check the manual ... but I often find that the manual defines what something is ... but doesn't explain how to do it, without an awful lot of searching.

Getting closer though...

Very kind of you kc. I'm in BC Canada, it's 11;15 p.m., and I've been at it here since 9:00 a.m. I think I'm fading. In fact, evanescing like the last little bit of firework in the dark dark sky (I was at a Guy Fawks bonfire thing last night - after buying a bottle of wine from Guy Fawks great great great great great granddaughter ... bit of synchronicity that).

I will look in here at dawn tomorrow.

Thank you mucho mucho for your help. I'm doing a CD for a Tibetan monk buddy ... his chants with some very soft western style orchestration in the back (pads, soft strings, minimalist, no Hip Hop). We just 'tuned' his voice to go with the western penchant for fixed tuning.

Well, it was 7 a.m. over here, Netherlands that is. Thats quite a time difference for a speedy discussion. Sounds like an interesting production you're involved. Tibetan chants and Melodyne, wish I could participate…….. Are you the producer too?

Anyways I'm very interested in the final results!

Back to the BIP story..............

In citation of the book 'Logic Pro 9 Advanced Music Production' :

Bouncing in Place

New to Logic Pro 9 is the ability to bounce both regions and tracks " in place", or in their

original position on the timeline. This is extremely useful for "rendering" or creating a

version of the data with all channel strip processing applied, saving CPU resources. Logic's

Bouncing in Place features provide a great deal of flexibility when producing the new file,

enabling you to bounce the channel's audio signal with or without plug- ins, effect tail, and

volume and pan automation.

My workflow goes like:

a) Select the destination track for the bounce;

b) Select the source track/region - right click - and in the contextual menu you'll find the option Bounce in place under <Bounce and Merge> (KeyCommand ctrl B);

c) now you get presented with a few options in a window, make your choice and of you go.

After this feature was introduced my production rhythm changed considerably to the good of my clients and me.

Let me know if this needs some more clarification.

kc,

This is terrific. You saved me an hour or two of muddling around trying to find what was needed in the manual.

I will try it out later today. My email is silverwolf@dccnet.com ... if you drop me a line I'll email you an MP3 of one of the chants.

I don't know if this is proper protocol for Forum exchanges of course. I plead ignorance.

And thank you X 10 for the help, it is very much appreciated,

Ben
