How do I switch from credit card to none without creating a new account?

CAN NOT DELETE PREVIOUS CREDIT CARD INFORMATION ON APP STORE, and I cant download free apps on app store or even update owned apps!

iPhone 4, iOS 5.1.1

Try purchasing and redeeming an iTunes Gift card and then try deleting the credit card.

For the standard account like you have, a valid payment method is needed even for free app.

Sounds like your card cannot be authorized for iTunes. This happened to me a few months ago. Check iTunes on your PC/Mac and see if your card is authorized. If not, it will not be able to be switched to "none". You'll have to contact Apple Assistance, or buy an iTunes giftcard and put in the inf for that instead of the credit card. Sorry.

I dont have the money to be tossing around on itunes gift cards, I live paycheck to paycheck

I tried making a new profile but it still doesnt show "None", only Visa, Mastercard, Amex, and idk what the last one was.

Did you follow these instructions as written? The email address has to be one not used with Apple before like in trying to set up an account previously.
