Mac Mini (2012) HDMI losing sync (blank screen/snow)

Looks like my mini has the HDMI issue that others have reported on the macrumors forums as well as here.

Mine exhibits the blank screen/snow issue ONLY when the HDMI port is used. This happens with HDMI->DVI adapter and also with pure HDMI cabling.

With the same screen, mini and DVI cable this does not occur.

This is a fresh Mini 2012 Server i7 model.

Do I need to report this in an official capacity somewhere (this is only the second ever apple hardware fault I've encountered in twenty years). Should I just be patient for a possible fix (as I don't need the hdmi port

I have experienced this issue as well. I just purchased the 2012 Mac Mini i5 model about a week ago from my local apple retailer. Since having it, my display has gone black 2-3 times. It only lasts for a split second. The display goes back and then resumes exactly where it left off with no other apparent effects. I am using a 23" AOC i2367fh display, and I am running HDMI to HDMI.

I contact Apple Support and was called within 2-3 minutes, and the experience was surprisingly pleasant. The rep said that this issue has been reported and is being investigated.

He gave me a case number as well - 383059530. If you are experiencing this problem, reference this case number.

I didn't really get an answer other than, "...keep checking for updates."

To add my experience. I returned my Mini Nov 21, after fussing for 1 week with poor display and intermittent black screens and after Tech Support advised no knowledge of the problem. (Samsung monitor via HDMI). I returned it via Genius Bar appointment to permit TS to have access to it for analysis - at their request. I will re-purchase once problem is fully resolved.

After the firmware 1.7 update I still have one blink every 6 seconds were my old MM 2011 is perfect. I think this issue will become a nightmare for a lot of customers..

My MM is connected by HDMI to HDMI with Marantz SR7005 AVR and then to a Pioneer Kuro 50" Plasma.

I'm hoping Apple engineers too see these post and provide a new update shortly because, as is, it is unusable.

Don't know why it doesn't work for me, but nothing has changed after the 1.7 firmware update. Obviusly I've rebooted many times, powered-off, disconnected and re-connected HDMI, powered-off and on the AVR and the TV: nothing.

I've also reset the NVRAM and PRAM.. same. I think there is something not working well in the HDCP in these late 2012 mini.
