My Yahoo e-mail was hacked yesterday. I have changed my Yahoo password. I can now send and receive e-mail via the web, but I can only receive e-mail via my iPhone and iPad. A test message did successfully go out from my iPhone in the middle of the night, but I am back to being unable to send from my iPhone this morning. I have deleted the accounts from my iOS devices, reset my iOS devices and recreated the accounts, but that hasn't fixed the problem. I have checked the outgoing mail server for Yahoo on both devices, but it does not require a password. Apple says that I need to talk to Yahoo, Yahoo says that I need to talk to Verizon, and Verizon says that I need to talk to Yahoo. Help!

I Just solved my issue with "a copy has been placed in your outbox....." with my AOL account.

My AOL account on my iPhone is working fine. When I added AOL mail to my ipad3 I named it something different but similar. It must not have recognized the newer, different name on the account. I opened both my ipad3 and iPhone settings, and changed the one that didn't work, to the same settings as the one that DID work! Problem solved.

I was having this issue with my AOL account and went through every possible option from this thread and others to try to fix it. Nothing worked. I did a check online and went to my AOL account and tried to send an email. I got a security notification and was asked to put in a series of characters in order to send email. Once I did that, my account on my iPhone and iPad worked perfectly fine for sending email. An annoying thing to have happen, but at least it's a whole lot easier than deleting and resetting an email account.

I just had the same problem. I got a new iPad Air and had just set up my iCloud email account when I realized I was unable to send emails from my AOL account. I was receiving emails, but was not able to send any. I figured out after checking dozens of settings and things that I needed to have my iCloud mail server turned "ON" and also my AOL email server turned "ON". If you are having this problem, check those settings in your SETTINGS section then go to iCloud and fix and then to MAIL and whatever you are using, i.e., AOL, Yahoo, gmail, etc., and be sure that under that email account you have that server turned on, too. Make sure it's set that way on your iPhone, iPad, and all devices. Whew! It was driving me crazy for a while. I guess when I set up the iCloud email account, it either switched off my AOL server, or I inadvertently did it somehow. Hope this helps.
