Can't log into messages (log entries inside) - the other solutions didn't work

I can't log into messages, the typical "please check networking" along with multiple password priompts. Log messages indicate the app is losing my password and not passing it on for auth?

I've tried the following solution from other threads

Some background:

I had a filesystem corruption on my 17" mbp, and had to pull my home directory from the corrupted drive and restore it to a fresh install.

After logging in, I noticed dozens of errors related to SyncServices and files in Library/Prefernces, so I killed both of these directories entirely, restarted, and let the system repopulate them.

I've also tried the follwing solutions:

checked hosts file - it's the default hosts file for osx, nothing special there

checked firewall - no firewall, and system is in DMZ via mac address on my router

tried both google dns and opendns - no dice, still issue.

deleted all iMessage and aim related data using keychain utility, system preferences, and by trashing all related Plist files (again ,~/Library/Preferences and ~/Library/SyncServices were nuked and the system rebooted to assure re-population of these directories)

If any systems gurus with mac could assist, I'd be much obliged.

Thanks.
