installed MacBook Pro 2.0 update, and many problems exist!! Mac OS X now continuously asks for "login" keychain permissions; DVDs refuse to eject after pressing the eject button and/or click eject both in DVD player and Finder; the MBP itself seems slow!

MacBook Pro 2.0 update = MISTAKE . . . Problems!

Apple released a new supposedly productive update for the MacBook Pro & MacBook Air (mid 2012) just a few days ago [Nov 8, 2012]. I installed this new 2.0 update, and have encountered far more problems than what it perfectly was prior to the update. For the first time with an Apple product could I say "if its not broke, don't fix it" !! And surely enough I did the opposite..

Since the 2.0 update, my MacBook Pro (mid 2012) now experiences:

  • an annoying abundance of questions like "MAC OS X WANTS TO ACCESS YOUR "LOGIN" KEYCHAIN 😠
  • activity monitor now sometimes doesn't work even when the app is active in the dock ⚠
  • when I play DVDs or any CDs of which, it will not eject both by pressing the button and/or by clicking eject. It comes with a system error (-47) ⚠User uploaded fileUser uploaded file
  • the whole performance of my MacBook has seemed sluggish, and somehow uses a lot more RAM since its update 😮

Please tell me I'm not the only one experiencing continuous new flaws since the MacBook Pro & Air 2.0 Update !! I have yet to wait and find out what new problems surface as time goes on before something can fix this ridiculous update. One thing for sure is that I will not update anything again until after I have read from legitimate sources and users that these so-called updates are progressive! I hope Apple has some sort of solution for me and whomever else is experiencing problems from this 2.0 update that was released on Nov 8th I believe..

If anyone else has been experiencing problems since the 2.0 update, please leave comments/solutions ~ thanks

Apple, please tell me there's a solution to this terrible update..

I'm also experiencing hangs when it tries to come out of sleep. I'll see the cursor flash quickly against a black background and then the display turns off. About 5 seconds later, it repeats.

This forces me to force the power off and reboot, thus enhancing my overall frustration with Apple Quality Assurance and Dev teams on this one.

thanks everyone for the feedback. At first I thought it was me who experienced this problem.. But it seems the 2.0 update has a lot of us experiencing a "login keychain" problem. If any of you all have a regular MacBook and had problems with the DVD drive not being able to eject, post that up too! I feel as I got the worst of everyone's experiences with 2.0 update. It seems the only solution I found to work was to go the the reboot screen when you restart your computer and go to a previous backup from the Time Machine. Outside of that method, I havent found any other solution to these bugs on the 2.0 update.

Before I went back to a certain backup in Time Machine, the 2.0 update did:

  • annoying 'login keychain' notification
  • Messages app failed to work
    • app didnt recognize my email signed in
    • failed to send / receive messages
  • a very sluggish response of the Mac
  • DVD driver wont eject CD/DVD
  • random screen flickers

I've been having this login keychain password request and all of my email passwords too every 30 seconds or so

Found a link on another forum suggesting repair disk permissions using Disk Utility. Then Reboot. It found and repaired a whole bunch of broken permissions and then once I rebooted It asked for the passwords once again for messages and facetime and when I opened mail.app I rebooted again and havent seen the problem for a couple of hours now. Fingers crossed.

Hello all!

I've a MBpro 13" 2,7ghz 8gb ram mid 2012 and encountered the same login password problem.
Once when I put my screen to sleep, I woke it up again and the screen was just blinking and again sleep, I could not wake it up and the solution was to force it to shut down. But than it did not make that problem again.
Another thing could be the light sensor, which sometimes does not work and I've to wake it up somehow: changing a bit the brightness and changing the light conditions until it starts to work again.
I did not see any lower-performance issue, but the login to keycan-stuff is really annoying!
But since I repaired the permission the mac is asking the login password not so often at before.
Hope this helps to you but overall to Apple for making us a good update! 😉

Comiserating with everyone. My MBP Retina is doing the same things.

  • 1 second blink when attempting to wake from sleep.
  • I haven't had a master keychain issue, but email logins and messages apps loose passwords and then don't accept known good passwords until a restart.
  • Slight sluggishness.

I have tried the following.

  • Restart
  • SMC Reset
  • PRAM Reset
  • Repaired Permissions
  • (Not enough time to evaluate this one yet) Reinstalled 2.0 update from Apple website download.

I myself have reverted back to a Time Machine backup taken on Friday evening. All is well again.

I experienced the login keychain notifications. Mail wasn't even usable - I have 6 mail accounts added and it was an exercise in futility keeping the thing open.

Also experienced the DVD drive wouldn't eject discs. I have an external drive attached to USB hub which is connected to my Retina MacBook Pro.

The Mac wasn't sluggish, but I performed an SMC and PRAM reset after applying the patch, so perhaps that helped?

No screen flickers that I noticed.

I usually don't bother with the Messages app unless someone is trying to reach me.
