installed MacBook Pro 2.0 update, and many problems exist!! Mac OS X now continuously asks for "login" keychain permissions; DVDs refuse to eject after pressing the eject button and/or click eject both in DVD player and Finder; the MBP itself seems slow!

MacBook Pro 2.0 update = MISTAKE . . . Problems!

Apple released a new supposedly productive update for the MacBook Pro & MacBook Air (mid 2012) just a few days ago [Nov 8, 2012]. I installed this new 2.0 update, and have encountered far more problems than what it perfectly was prior to the update. For the first time with an Apple product could I say "if its not broke, don't fix it" !! And surely enough I did the opposite..

Since the 2.0 update, my MacBook Pro (mid 2012) now experiences:

  • an annoying abundance of questions like "MAC OS X WANTS TO ACCESS YOUR "LOGIN" KEYCHAIN 😠
  • activity monitor now sometimes doesn't work even when the app is active in the dock ⚠
  • when I play DVDs or any CDs of which, it will not eject both by pressing the button and/or by clicking eject. It comes with a system error (-47) ⚠User uploaded fileUser uploaded file
  • the whole performance of my MacBook has seemed sluggish, and somehow uses a lot more RAM since its update 😮

Please tell me I'm not the only one experiencing continuous new flaws since the MacBook Pro & Air 2.0 Update !! I have yet to wait and find out what new problems surface as time goes on before something can fix this ridiculous update. One thing for sure is that I will not update anything again until after I have read from legitimate sources and users that these so-called updates are progressive! I hope Apple has some sort of solution for me and whomever else is experiencing problems from this 2.0 update that was released on Nov 8th I believe..

If anyone else has been experiencing problems since the 2.0 update, please leave comments/solutions ~ thanks

Apple, please tell me there's a solution to this terrible update..

I posted tis in another discussion, but this is also related to the MacBook Pro Software Update 2.0

---------------------------------------

I have a summer 2012 MacBook Pro (non-retina) with an internal SSD as the starup disk. I have an external disk connected to it via FireWire 800 for using Time Machine, as well as an external monitor (30" Cinema Display).

When I'm through with the machine I always select "Sleep" from the Apple menu (since closing the lid would just put the computer in clamshell mode). Then I close the lid. This has always worked as expected.

However, since I installed the MacBook Pro Software Update last week, things have been different. When I close the lid of the sleeping machine, the external disk wakes up, starts to spin, and then goes back to sleep. The monitor, which was dark, flashes on, as if the machine is waking up, and then goes immediately dark again. So it seems as if closing the lid of a sleeping MacBook Pro briefly wakes the machine up.

Has anyone else observed this behavior?

I had same issue keychain login issue, facetime iMessage login issue, Calendar login issue, screen flashing On/Off when I tried updating from 10.8.1 to 10.8.2.... so what I did to fix the issue was to clean install straight to 10.8.2 and so it solved the problem. BUT now the issue with 10.8.2 is you cant get your HDMI external display work using mini display port 😠

So, after a long time of research i found a little temporary workaround for the problem.

In my case i had following issues:

- many Password questions (keychain problem)

- write Error on all Disks

- cannot open Settings in mail.app

- etc...

Sometimes after a reboot it works fine, but often i have the problems.

So, if the problems are present, i can solve it be doing following things:

- kill mail.app

- restart Finder

then it will work for the rest of the day.

I think it´s a possible solution till Apple will publish the new Update.

Wow thank God I didn't install this thing. I've worked in the past on firmware and I know that one single typo on the code can make a mess of it, so decided to wait. Today my machine alerted me of a new update and I thought it had been the same update I neglected (the one that affected everybody) but I went to the app store and nothing showed up. Hopefully apple is going to take note on this one and don't release such updates lightly. Now I assume that that patch, had it worked alright it was meant to address issues; I hope they release a working one later. I know that the one they released afther the original fiasco was only meant to address the problems that the first one caused.
