I have installed them in the (i think) correct place!

To make them available for all users, the files should be in:
./Library/iTunes/iTunes Plug-ins

For single users:
./Users/Username/Library/iTunes/iTunes Plug-ins

If the 'iTunes Plug-ins' folder does not exist, create it using the exact name iTunes Plug-ins

In iTunes, the visualizers appear below the item 'iTunes Visualizer' in the Visualizer menu.

Hope this helps.

I am having the exact same problem as blobsie.

I also bet I have the same computer setup and version as blobsie.

I downloaded OS X visual plugins, placed them in the correct folder (I have even also placed them in the folder for all users, paying careful attention to the case on the folder name). I have restarted iTunes. I have restarted my computer. The plugins just do not show up. What am I doing wrong?

When you download the visualizers from the Arkaos site, do you end up with a blue "VISE" icon with a name like "ArKaosVisualizer 154", or do you end up with a different icon that has a ".sit" extension?

The VISE document is the installer for the the plugins. Double-clicking on the installer will install the plugin in the proper folder for iTunes visualizers.

If you are not seeing this icon, then you need to download Stuffit so that compressed files will be uncompressed when you download them.

My first reply really applies to the first visualizer you linked to, which does need to be installed using their installer.

Other plugins should show up with a lego-block icon with iTunes notes on one face and an atom on another. These files can be moved directly to ~Library/iTunes/iTunes Plug-ins. If you are not seeing the lego-block icon, again, you need to download and install Stuffit.

(I tried editing my earlier post, but by the time I finished making my changes, the editing time was up and I couldn't save my changes.)

What widget are you trying to use? Where did you get it so we could look at it?

What happens if you go to Bayern 4 Klassic Internet radio station and click on the RealPlayer stream? What often happens with Real streams is that a file is downloaded to your default download location and if RealPlayer doesn't start automatically you then need to double-click on the file to start the stream.

OK, that makes sense. I had looked at your info line and it only says "Mac Mini Mac OS X (10.4.6)" so although I thought about the Intel problem I didn't mention it. I would recommend adding that you have an Intel Mac Mini to the Other Info line of your computer info settings.

The only way to get some Intel-native apps (universal binaries) to work with non-Intel ones (non universal binaries) is to force them to run under Rosetta which can be done in the Get Info window for the app.
