Can't update from 10.8.1 to 10.8.2

This really support to me and now i have the OS 10.8.2 on my brand new macbook pro retina display 13 inch.

I ended up going to the Genius Bar, skeptical about any chances for success. Nut I was proved wrong. At the GB, a 10.8.2 image was installed on my Mac Mini and it works great. So if you lost your patience of waiting for Apple to issue a fix, go visit your local GB and they'll fix it in 30 min. But make sure you back up your drive as it will be wiped out.

I went to the GB.But they told me about that I have to wait until the apple update come out.They cannot do anything to help me with my MBPR 13 retina for now.I did what they told on the phone and wait for reboot,and even apple store change a new mac.but I am still using the 10.8.1,but my iphoto working fine.just cannot update to the 10.8.2

that is correct.. but the issue with 10.8.2 is if you have external display via HDMI using minidisplay port it wont work.

Went to the Genius Bar here in Germany today . The Genius had no idea about the problem and came with the answer to wait until Apple would release a new update.

Poor service wherever you look. Therefore no Aperture, etc.

Just go a tech guy from the Apple Care. Told me that engineers are aware that is a global issue and working on its resolution. has was not able to give me a delivery date for the new update.

For apple maps problem at least they released a statement and apologized and promised to fix it, now I emailed apple the auto response said its thanks giving so we have to wait cuz people are busy killing and eating Turkey . If we didn't use iPhoto or aperture or other apps that needs update we wouldn't care, only some say rumors that apple is working on it, how long or when is still a mystery

Thanks for the link, alifrombrampton, it seems to have worked. I didn't erase my hd, though, just installed the update from the link you posted and then installed the remaining updates from the app store. I don't use a different monitor so not sure if the HDMI is working as it should.

Doesn't seem to work for the Mac Mini. I think workarounds are specific to various machines, builds, and date of release. I've never, ever had such an awful issue with Apple in the 20-some years I've used its products. Very disappointed, especially since this is my work machine.

same here... brand new macmini and I could not update to 10.8.2 I have tried all packs and gave up.

the worst thing is Apple don't say a word about this !

i m using macbook pro Retina display in 13inchs but it is having issue in update from 10.8.1 to 10.8.2 it is not updating the sofware...even today i got notification of new software update that is ready for my notebook but when i opened App store to update software that is not showing any updation availballe there instead of a iphoto updation only which required 10.8.2 for to update.....what is the solution???

If you read all the post here, you will find there is no solution - we have to wait for Apple to offer the necessary update again which they pulled about a week ago.

you can only install iphoto and aperture if you (wipe-out) reformat your macbook using ML installer 10.8.2 build 12C60... same as what I did...... if you just applied using supplementary patch 10.8.2 to your existing 10.8.1 then you wont be able to install iphoto.

Just bought a new Mac Mini - shipped with 10.8.1, will not upgrade to 10.8.2.

App store will not show the OSX update as available.

thunderbolt firmware update 1.1 is now available... hope this fix the issue for external display using HDMI minidisplay port 😠
