First timer here on the discussion board. Is this thing working?

Some food for thought - Crucial do not offer 2x 4GB kits for that model on either the US or UK sites.
The kit part no. you quote wasn't recognised by their search engine.
OWC (macSales) do offer 2x 4GB kits.

I didn't see what OS you're running. However, I do know that I had to update my EFI Firmware with a Software Update and it solved my issues. You'll see it referenced by older posts as the "Secret Firmware" update, as they didn't specify in the update that it would permit macs to run more than 4gb of memory.
I'm now running 8gb in my late 2008 aluminum macbook.

tnethers, the OS is 10.6.8. Would this update need to be searched for online or would a simple software update do it? I've updated the software 2 weeks ago. Showing no new updates at this time.
I,ve talked with Crucial and ram is correct. They say talk to apple. Apple wants $20. I'll live with 5G unless someone else has an idea. I'm thinking firmware update but this model doesn't seem to be included in discussions about this.
OK. Some thing happened. I reinstalled both new ones after checking each one alone. Guess what? 8G. I guess they just didn't seat right the 1st time. DUUUHHH!!! Thanks everyone!
Is it just me or we all presumed that you made sure 10 times that bad install was not the case :-)

I am trying to install crucial CT2CP51264BC 1067 PC3-8500 DDR3 2x4g ram. I've rebooted but computer only reads 4g. Is there something I can do to get it to recognize 8?
