iPhone 5 Screen Replacement in Thailand?

I purchased my iPhone 5 September 21st in the US, and then moved to Thailand in October. I shattered my screen and I'm curious what my options might be to repair it. I'm looking for the cheapest option, so probably a DIY job with a screen ordered online. However, I've read in other forums that some Apple stores will completely replace a broken iPhone 5 for ~ $230 - which is an option I would entertain. Are there Apple stores in Thailand? All I've been able to find are certified retailers. Any suggestions on websites from which to purchase replacement screens would be greatly appreciated. All I've found so far are websites asking $299 for a screen, which is absolutely absurd.

If you are willing to wait until just prior to your departure for the states to have the screen replaced, why not wait until you return and get an OOW replacement. Since Apple would be able to tell if you had the screen replaced in your other scenario, which would disqualify you from the OOW replacement, this way at least you know Apple will do something. The OOW replacement for the iPhone 5 is $229, at least you still receive a refurbished phone rather than having one that was repaired by a 3rd party and have no warranty.

What? Neither of you actually read my post apparently.

@Dankton, I said that Pattaya is an hour away from where I live, nothing about replacement time. Calm down, bold lettering.

@Chris, I said I would get my old, shattered, screen put BACK into my phone so that when I go to Apple upon my return, my original screen is still in the phone.

Go back and re-read what I wrote. I think it makes a lot of sense, as long as a technician can carefully replace my old screen right before I head back home.

So, what if, to circumvent this issue, right before my return to the US I had my old, shattered screen replaced? That way, as long as they left no evidence of opening the phone,

I could utilize my warranty to obtain a refurbished iPhone 5 upon returning to the states.

I did read your post, and it does not say that you were going to have it fixed and then replace put the replaced screen back in. You just say "had my old, shattered screen replaced?"

I have no doubt that Apple can tell the phone has been opened. Your call on how you want to handle it.

Also, you would not be utilizing your warranty to obtain a refurbished iPhone, it would be an OOW, since screen damage is not covered by warranty.

I'm facing similar problem too.

I have problem with my iPhone 4s ; unable to hear through receiver or speakers

My phone were original purchased in Saudi Arabia and I'm currently in Thailand right now.

I won't be back to saudi until late Apirl which's almost the same time of my warranty expired, and things just not get done that easy in Middle East :'(

I'd been contacted with AAPS, Apple Reteailer, Macintosh Service Center.

It's seems like no hope here other than you go to MBK.
