If the PC hardware (except for the critical drive with pictures) is irrelevant, buy an external USB or Firewire enclosure from macsales.com and extract the drive from the PC. Then the old PC drive is "justa a data disk" to the Mac.

I have this "toaster" that can use 2.5 and 3.5 in drives (http://eshop.macsales.com/item/NewerTech/U3S3HD/). Also if your old drive is IDE, macsales has this IDE-toSATA converter (http://eshop.macsales.com/item/Addonics/ADSAIDE/).

Should be some screws somewhere on the outer case. If not, a hacksaw used at the extreme edges of the case to get a good look at the internals. Eventually you will get down to a hard drive held in by what I expect will be 4 small screws. Just be sure to hacksaw in from extreme outer case intil you can expose the final drive.

But you could also probably get a "legacy support" computer store to help you with that operation for about $25 (not a bad price, to get your photos).
