First USB port stops working after random time and won't work until I restart

Hey guys

I have this problem on my late 2011 Macbook Pro 13 inch,

It's been for a year already and it really freaks me out and drive me crazy

My first USB port next to the thunderbolt stops working after like 3 days, and it won't respond until I restart my computer or log off and log in again.

If I restart my computer, USB stops working after 3 days and won't respond until I restart

If I log off it works for like a couple of hours and then stops again

I have tried EVERYTHING, SMC reset - no luck, PRAM reset - same results, Upgraded to lion same results, Upgraded to mountain lion - SAME RESULT

And I can't take it to an apple store because I'm not from the US

I am 100% sure this is a software problem and I've seen here that many people have faced this problem

Please help, it really freaks me out

You'd really rather format your HD and reinstall everything instead of just turning your computer off every couple of days?

I have never formatted my mac before, I would prefer to look for other solutions instead.

Isn't it possible to like reset the USB ports or reinstalling what's making them function?

After rebooting, I put the printer cord directly into the usb port and it printed.

I plugged the mouse directly into the port and it worked

When I plugged the flat apple key board with the mouse in the side port, I got the same error of too much power

When I replaced the flat keyboard with one of the older ones, it all is working now.

For how long?

A little late to join in on this listing, but I was researching the very same problem with my MacBook Pro 13 in. Mine is right around a year old, just out of warrantee I believe. My very same port quits working until I restart my laptop. I have to say its frustrating especially when your in a hurry. I don't shut my laptop off regularly as a convenience and I guess I would say I shouldn't have to. If it is a software or firmware problem the it needs to be fixed by apple. To say just restart and its ok is to much like windows (and yes I use a windows laptop at work daily). I can confirm the problem and wonder how many others have noticed the same thing?

Still having problems with the newer flat keyboard. But when I plug in the older white one, all works well today 12/22 since the post of 12/11.

Well, I think I've solved this problem somehow with an SMC reset, maybe I've just done it wrong all this time, or maybe I just needed to do it again and again.

I'm really not sure, but atm it works, if it'll stop I'll look for other solutions..
