iMessage not working for me and my friends

Hey, my iMessage went out about two hours ago.I thought initially it was just me, but all of my friends are having the issue too, I don't see any notes of iMessage being out as of yet for today, november 18th. It would not activate for me, and now it is activated, but my phone number is grayed out and i am unable to select it. when i select "use email" it won't accept my password. My friend (4s)can't even get it to activate for her. what is up apple???

******UPDATE*******
i just shut off iMessage and turned it on again, and got an error message saying "An error occured during activation, please try again* grrrrrrrrrrr😠

iMessage has been out for 2 1/2hours for me. It dropped out at 12pm Mountain Time.. I can't send texts so not having iMessage is putting a damper on my already boring day!

Agreed! They need to fix it soon! I haven't had any issues up till now. It's been out for about 3 hours for me . Has anyone called apple?

someone did call, and apple said they were having an issue with it :/ no word on when itll be fixed. I live in a really rural area so imessage is important since my cell doesnt have service half the time, really bad area, so i rely on wifi

Iam in Florida and have ATT with the same problems, nothing going to an apple related address is working, emails, im, and texts to apple addresses...seems to come and go for plain text, but apple mail and im are dead.

I should add I am in Alberta Canada, and there has been a reply here from someone that is not using iOS6 and has not updated so I guess this isnt a new iOS issue. Apple itself. this is leaving a bad taste in my mouth, apple is steadily losing ground with me.Frustrated! 4 hours now and still nothing. They could at least issue a statement of some sort.

My imessage works right now to one person only on my iPad. It goes down far to often. I am frustrated with it.

I am in czech and we have same problem, I have 4S with iOS 6.0.1, my wife same problem with 4S with iOS 5.1.1

Having the same issue across the pond. im glad im not the only one it seems to be an overall problem apple are having. Whatever ye do do not turn off imessage and then turn it back on, i did that and did not have imessage for 2 days, kept getting an activiation error message. just be patient and im sure apple will fix it though they really need to solve this issue with the new iOS.

Same is happening to me. it is saying my Apple ID password is incorrect even though it works when I'm buying music and siging into things. I even reset my password and it's still not working. I restarted my phone and everything and still IMESSAGE for me isn't happening.

my wife and mine are not working, funny I noticed it on hers first, started to try to fix it, and nothing! googled "iMessage us not working" and found this discussion, which makes me feel better that at least it was not me, : ). By the way we are in Brazil right now, so it's world wide "iMassage black out"
