Admin account bypass and startup disc?

Hi there; This is only my second post, so I hope this has not been addressed already (a quick search did not turn it up). I have a six-year-old version of the music-notation program Finale which has since been upgraded repeatedly by the manufacturer (since I'm currently unemployed I can't buy the current version to run it in OSX). Because my version is so old it is not stable in Classic; to use it I must reboot the machine into OS 9. I asked the manufacturer when I first tried to run it in Classic and it kept crashing, and this is what they told me, that my elderly, sclerotic, calcified version has to run within OS 9, not Classic. My question is: Is there a way of somehow setting things up to allow my 13-year-old son (who wants to use the program) to reboot the machine into OS 9 without being able to do anything else in the "admin" line? That is, can I give him permission just to change the boot volume and do nothing else? When I need to boot in 9 I always have to click the unlock icon and provide the admin name and password.

My thanks in advance!
