Trying to back up iphone and get and error that says unable to back up iphone because of an error occured. I have rebooted the phone and tried syncing but still fails back up.
iPhone 4S, iOS 6.0.1
In addition to the question I am using Win Vista and I have rebooted my PC several times as well. I have updated itunes to the latest version. Back up to the PC still fails.
Try deleting your most current backup in iTunes, and then try the backup again.
I deleted the only back up on my PC then rebooted the PC and the iphone 4S and it still gives the same error that it could not back up because an error ocurred.
Create a new user id for the computer you are using, and see if you are having the same issue.
That didn't do anything still get the same error.
That is the only error you are getting, "an error occurred"?
The exact error is "iTunes could not back up the iPhone 'iPhone 4S' because an error ocurred." I have also now tried deleting itunes and reinstalling and that didn't work.
When you deleted iTunes and reinstalled it, did you use the support document that describes uninstalling? This is for Windows Vista and 7. http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1923. If you don't follow that, not all components will be removed and can get corrupted. Try this support document about backups first http://support.apple.com/kb/TS2529
That did not work either. I have contacted apple for additional help but willing to try other suggestions if they are out there. Thanks
