It may not be supported, but that doesn't stop it working perfectly fine. There have been very few reported problems with 10.7 on W8. Anything that runs on W7 should run in W8 desktop mode.

In fact, on an anecdotal note, on my VM and Bootcamp I have had no issues with anything on W8. Seems pretty impressive to me from that perspective.

Bootcamp drivers are also not offically supporting W8, but, again, that doesn't stop them working fine for most people.

Yes, but as also has been stated, it works perfectly well for most people. I fact, if you Google Windows 8 and iTunes, only this thread and another on ASC come up.

There are probably less reported problems on W8 than normal iTunes issues on Windows.

Don't know why it is problematic for a couple of people here - could be one of many reasons. However, it should work, but maybe they'll have to wait for an update as you suggest.

I also just bought a Windows 8 computer (64 bit) with IE 10 and I am also unable to download itunes. Once I click the "download" button, it automatically generates the "thanks for downloading" without runing any application or software to officially install itunes.

And as it was said earlier........ for me, a google search for itunes for windows 8 generates this thread, on bing with the same search- i found this article (which is elusive and officially gives no answers- going nowhere)

http://www.maclife.com/article/news/microsoft_wants_itunes_app_windows_8

and finally a search in apple has not pulled up any results, to include this thread.

So it looks like we get those people who had it successfully download to explain how, i.e.they had to change certian internet options or something to that effect to get it to work, where it downloaded, etc---- cause the rest of us are STUCK without itunes. My next step tomorrow will be to call apple for support and if I succeed I will re-post the thread and/or answers.

thanks guys

So I was able to get it to download without contacting apple support. I had my internet options set to default, go to TOOLS, INTERNET OPTIONS, then....

- cleared any stored trusted sites (under the security tab at the top)

- deleted the browser history on default settings (under the general tab) (the top four click options found by clicking SETTINGS)

- disabled the popup blocker going to TOOLS, POP-UP BLOCKER, TURN OFF POP-UP BLOCKER

-and the FINAL step i did was went to the URL bar (where you type in an i.p. address or website name) and clicked the sign which is a circle with the diagonal dash (looks like a NO SMOKING sign), un-blocking any filters that were being set. After that, I clicked "download" for the itunes (WIndows 64 bit for me and my laptop)- and it popped up the menu to allow me to run and install the software for itunes version 10.7

It included a shortcut to the desktop and appeared on the windows 8 start menu as well. Hope that helps people get itunes on their computer.

Thanks

First, connect your iDevice (for you it is your iPod) to your computer. If it doesn't open iTunes automatically or your iDevice is not charging off your computer as a source of power, you might have a problem with the USB cable that provides the connection between your iDevice and computer.

If it receives power and does not open iTunes, it should be okay to open iTunes manually and continue.

Once iTunes is open, click the < Help> tab at the top, go to the second option < iTunes Tutorials >, this will open a tutorial guide on how to use the latest version of iTunes you have on your computer. There is a tutorial there instructing you on how to do the Sync process.

Note that there is also an option with your iDevice for you to sync manually with the computer or using iCloud over wifi.

If you prefer to actually connect your iDevice to your computer, I suggest using the option of connecting manually to Sync and select what songs/videos/apps etc. you want to Sync with your device. Again these options should be covered in the iTunes Tutorials. If you need more advanced help, click < Help > again, this time click the first option < iTunes Help > and go to the Sync option, which continues with more dropdown tabs to help you with the specific problem or desire you are trying to achieve.

Hope that helps you david.
