Mac Mini (late 2012) waiting for 10.8.2 update solution but can't use iPhoto or Aperture (require 10.8.2 when open) in the meantime, any ideas?
Mac mini, OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.1)
Sad, but true, you have to delete them & install earlier versions.

Thanks a lot for the advice. I bought all my apps from the Appstore, how can I get an earlier version of Apperture or iPhoto? If it's going to take too long to fix the update problem I'll go and buy Adobe Lightroom =S
OOPs, I've since learned that iPhoto & maybe Apperture will NOT open your current docs with the older version, telling you to update the OS to 10.8.2 !?? 😟
The special 10.8.2 update the Minis need has been pulled, though there was a remnant D/L for it a few days ago I think...

No idea if it's still there or even if you want to try it.
Thanks RRFS! but the suplemental update doesn't work with late 2012 Mac Mini or 13" MBP with Retina Display. I tried again, but still, not compatible with the system.
I don't know about the MBP but I just retried it on my Mac Mini late 2012 and it took it without a hitch. My OSX build found in System Report is (12C2034)
I have had the exact same issue. Just bought my new Mac Mini last week. Tried to use iPhoto, but it says that I first need to install OS X 10.8.2 in order for it to run. The only problem is - THERE IS NO 10.8.2 UPDATE AVAILABLE FOR THE MAC MINI. Ugh!
It gets worse - I can't install ANY of the following programs on my Mac Mini because it insists that I need the (unavailable) OS X 10.8.2 update first:
The main reason I got the Mac Mini was to run the above programs on it. Apple Tech support could do nothing for me except tell me to wait when the 10.8.2 update becomes available - but they have absolutely no estimate as to when that will be.
Without doubt - this is the biggest and most disappointing fail from Apple I have experienced.
Very frustrated...
WE feel your pain, no idea if it's the reason for all the lopped heads lately at Apple... or the cause, but I personally think it's due to the OS going to iOS push that is the problem, that & Apple/MS trying to kill off Computers as useful tools for users. 😟 😠
Have you tried Internet Recovery? It might put 10.8.2 onto your system. Install it onto a 16GB flash drive and see which version it creates. 😉
I finally decided to to install the pulled version still available on softpedia.com. It updated without any issues and was able to install and run the latest versions of aperture, iphoto, and imovie.

Good work, thanks for the info! 🙂
Apple has just reissued the OS X Mountain Lion 10.8.2 supplemental update and now you should be able to update from 10.8.1 to 10.8.2.
Thanks...

Wonder if anybody that applied the earlier one has tried the newer one over it?
THanks! 🙂
