Can't empty my trash

I can't empty my trash. It starts the operation but doesn't complete even after few hours.

MacBook Pro, OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.2)

Do you have "Empty Trash Securely" set in Finder Preferences? If you unloaded a LOT of stuff into the Trash and had secure delete on, it may take some time - how much did you put into the Trash?
